The Pegulas probably would have paid for it..
The Pegulas do indeed have the cash but also just bought the Buffalo Beauts a women's professional team that plays out of the HarborCentre next door to the First Niagara Centre.

Anyone know what the break even number is for clubs to make money with regards to attendance per game. I know ticket prices and expenses etc can effect the numbers. ....example.... 2,500 a game, 3,000 per game ?

It's around 2,500 a game unless they are discounting.

For some reason the number that comes to mind for break even was 3500. They apparently lost money every year at the Jack and thanks to the team owing all of the concession for every event held in that building, they were able to recoup some money.
Fishfan will know for sure.

Impossible to know. Variations between ticket prices, concessions, travel, etc. Take SSM for example, their travel expenses have to be way higher than a team like Kitchener or Guelph. Discounted tickets also obscure the numbers Id imagine. I mean the Dogs were selling $5 tickets a couple of weeks ago.

Best answer goes to ... fishfan of course lol

We will never know and it will vary obviously from market to market ... agreed.

I look at it this way ... based on pure capitalistic ideology...

if a franchise stays somewhere for a long time ... they are either (a) profitable (b) breaking even or losing an immaterial amount of money or (c) owned by someone who has way too much money to care whether they are breaking even.

Otherwise ... trying to guesstimate a break even by bums in the stands ... is just that ... guessing ...

My answer was based on the attendance stats of the last three teams to go belly up: Majors, Whalers and Bulls. All three seemed to tap out around the 2,500 mark. Currently the Steelheads and Battalion are in that range - Brampton Battalion got as low as 1,800's before they moved!

Before any expansion have to shore up the Missy Hamilton and Flint situations but I have heard rumblings about Pembroke.

The Pembroke topic that I have seen is on the HD Boards site and I found it on the Ottawa thread.
