Because some designer at some point said in a presentation that this footprint could hold an upper bowl means nothing. This arena is almost an exact replica of Guelph - why, $$$$. Of course, a design/engineering firm would create drawings that can be multipurpose and they can use in multiple communities.

I am not sure why everyone is criticizing a poster for saying that maybe they will add an upper bowl by 2027. While I don’t think it will happen and I am not convinced it can even be done due to sight lines and limited room to expand the footprint, I’m not going to insult someone for expressing their hope that the arena is expanded.

In 20 years the population in Niagara is expected to exceed 600,000. Who knows, maybe an upper deck will be discussed at that time.

DeDobbelaer made a presentation to St Catharines city council tonight. All the talk was on what the city has to contribute and how much economic spinoff will be created by hosting the memorial cup. DeDobbelaer said they need to guarantee 1.5 - 2.0 million dollars. If the tournament doesn’t make that much, the Icedogs will be on the hook for the deficit. They will have a Memorial Cup tournament committee to help run the tournament and Doug Hamilton will sit on the committee.

City Council unanimously voted to support the bid and will contribute $360k, most of which is the waiving of arena rental fees and parking fees.

The company who operates the Meridian Centre is asking for upgrades to the video system and sound system at the arena. They made a request that it be included in the 2023 budget. Hopefully, if approved, this will mean a new video board as ours is probably the most grainy in the OHL. All of the other video boards have a higher HD capacity.

In hindsight BBs pathetic coaching that spring was the beginning of the spiral downwards for this entire franchise . Started with putting AkihiL Thomas on the ice in the dying minutes of the previous series when there was no need too and then he got run and hurt and the rest is history IMO

They're -90, the second worst team in the East is -22.

I guess it could be worse. The Icedogs are a success when compared to 2 other junior teams. Brantford OJHL is -147 and Brantford GOJHL is -220. The Dogs with 25 points have more than both Brantford teams combined (18). DeBozolard must be proud.
