Recap from Dogs' office:
-----------------------------
Mark Visentin scored and picked up the victory as the Niagara IceDogs took a 2-1 series lead over the Ottawa 67's with a 5-2 win in Ottawa on Monday night!

The first period saw Ottawa strike first as they picked up the only goal of the period to make it 1-0 after one. Shots in the period favoured Ottawa 15-10.

Mitchell Theoret would get the IceDogs even quickly in the second, knocking home a rebound in front to tie it up at 1-1 only 20 seconds into the period. Ottawa would then retake the lead at 2-1 with a shorthanded goal just over four minutes later. The IceDogs would continue to battle however and Dougie Hamilton would fire one home to tie things back up at 2-2. That would prove to be the score after 40 minutes as the teams headed into the third all tied up

Theoret would continue his strong game and series striking only 13 seconds into the third to give the IceDogs their first lead of the game at 3-2. Niagara would not stop there, as Andrew Agozzino would bat one home just over a minute later to extend the lead to 4-2. The IceDogs would clamp down on the lead keeping the score at 4-2 until, with 38 seconds left, Visentin would launch a shorthanded clearing shot from behind his own net for his first career OHL goal, making it a 5-2 final in favour of the IceDogs.

Visentin was solid in the victory stopping 22 shots to go along with his goal, while Theoret had two goals including the game winner.

The teams will return to action on Wednesday night as the IceDogs will hope to keep the momentum as they play game four in Ottawa, before returning home for game five on Friday.

Big road win tonight for the Dogs they took advantage of the backup in net. Theo with two and Visser in the empty net . I think the fatigue has caught up to Ottawa they looked like a beaten team in the third period. Another win Wed will be sweat and then we can wrap it up Friday at home.

Cogeco already shows all games, and have been doing so all season (and all last season, and the season before, etc..)

Wow! Are you kidding me. Get Visser a pair of glasses. What was he thinking or not seeing? First he makes a terrible clearing pass, when he's 15 feet out of his net, up ice right on to the stick of Smith for 67's gift wrapped 2nd goal - then he makes a clearing pass from behind the net, right thru a crowd of 67's that ends up miraculously in the net for the 5th goal. Great that he got a goal out of it but it could have just a easily ended up on the stick of a cruising 67 (just look at the replay, scarey) and in the net with 38 sec still to play. I would never congratulate him on that. In my mind that was a bone head undisciplined play. Say what you want about his puck handling skills but every time he handles the puck it's a misadventure waiting to happen. He's been reading his press too much about how great he is with this skill. Stay in your net, never venture more than a few feet, stop the puck and nothing else. Leave it for the guys wearing gloves with fingers and real hockey sticks to handle it. From tykes on up one of the cardinal rules you teach kids is NOT to clear the puck out by passing it in front of your own net. Now we have a goalie who loves to dump it out straight up the middle when he's completely out of position.

I know Zanetti Spaghetti and Mrazek weren't in the lineup tonight for the 67's (which is a real shame) but the biggest player missing for Ottawa is Tyler (Houdini) Toffoli. The longer Tyler Copperfield stays invisible in this series the quicker Ottawa will disappear out of the playoffs with him .

I'm getting really sick of certain people badmouthing Mark. Goalies make mistakes, so what. Try strapping on pads and a glove and blocker and play a high-intensity playoff series against the 2nd best in the East and then come back and tell me how your experience was? I honestly have seen worse come from better goalies in the NHL or whatever and they don't get on their case. Give him a break, he maybe 20 years old and close to being ready to go pro but he's technically still a kid and he doesn't deserve this disrespect from people who have no idea on what a playoff game for a goaltender is.

Reminder to all: You can argue a person's point of view, but knocking them for doing so is NOT allowed. Speak about the game and players, not about each other. Thank you.

About the game:

SHOTS 123Total
Niagara IceDogs 10161036
Ottawa 67's 155424

Wow... that's a recipe for success. Ott with 5 shots on net in 2nd, 4 in 3rd.

No hockey fans left in Ottawa! :

Attendance: 4394 (their rink holds 9862)

Same as vs Brampton, same as vs Oshawa. Even Kitchener - and that's a Kitchener/London series for cryin out loud!

Niagara truly has the most hockey-hungry fans in the league. Other teams DROP attendance come playoff time, we always have sellouts!

^^^ NIAGARA does have the loudest fans hands down.

For the attendance in Ottawa last night...well most people were watching the Sens vs Rangers at home in Ottawa. That explains the lack of attendance. Watch on Wednesday, should be more people.
