Massive d-man from Indiana Ice USHL. 6'5, 225. Not sure what they're planning on doing with the back end but something has got to give. Wilkie is more than ready to step in and perhaps even Sarris as well. Hopefully they can get this kid to report.

This is a puzzling move... the Dogs already have a log jam on the backend. I expected a move to happen but I thought it would be a defencemen being shipped out not brought in. With Mercer, Haydon, Wilkie, Dunn, Siebenaler, Mikulovich, Brosnan and Sarris all eligible to return and if they get Mantha to report, they'll be up to nine defencemen. More moves to come.
I love the size of Mantha but I don't like this from Sportsblog.com.... http://www.mynhldraft.com/2014/NHL-D...es/Ryan-Mantha Mantha has good bloodlines and impressive size. Handles the puck well and makes a strong breakout pass. Uses his reach and strength to defend. He needs to work on his transition and overall mobility as well as improve his physical play as he comes off as somewhat soft. (November 2013) A big soft defencemen with bad mobility? What is happening with the Dogs and the Indiana Ice? They drafted two of their players and now traded for another. Thought that this move was another one to possibly make Logan Brown more comfortable in reporting to Niagara. But, everything I've read continues to say that he is unlikely to sign here. Weird. |

Maybe they will bring Jeff Brown in to coach, and Marty will move upstairs, thus Logan will report ,as will all of his friends. Then we will trade some of our defenceman for whatever other pieces we require to help establish this team as one of the strongest in the East. Sounds pretty straight forward to me. Lol

Haydon struggled big time last year but the kid is so tough. He could be the toughest kid in the league in two years... I'd hate to lose that. Mercer won't be around come "go for it time" so it makes sense for him to be moved. I think Brosnan and Mercer are the ones to move. |
