Default (Former)Niagara IceDogs Win the Stanley Cup!!

Former Coach Mike Van Ryn, Captain Alex Pietrangelo, Vince Dunn.
Lots of IceDog roots contribute to the 2019 Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues!

There are no words…

What are the odds of making the NHL – combined with the odds of lifting the Stanley Cup?

And here we have two players, drafted and developed by the IceDogs organization – achieve the “ultimate” dream of every OHL player!

As IceDogs fans, we can say we were part of their improbable journey against the odds. Puts into perspective the reason why we go to these games. Proud to be an IceDogs' STH.

ALEX PIETRANGELO

VINCE DUNN

As a Boston Bruin fan it was a disappointing game 7 loss, but happy to see former Ice Dogs Vince Dunn & Alex Pietrangelo win the Stanley Cup.....I thought Petro was the MVP for the St. Louis Blues. O'Reilly & their Goalie played great but if I could take one player off the Blues roster and make him a Bruin it would be Alex Pietrangelo

That is pretty much how I approached game 7. Long time Boston fan but intrigued by the 'Dogs connection and the underdog status. It was great to see Vince Dunn & Alex Pietrangelo hoisting the Stanley Cup.

I agree with your sentiments above as I too have been a Bruins fan since the year prior to the arrival of Bobby Orr in Boston.

Interesting stat with the NHL finals and NBA finals is how poorly teams played at home.

Boston 1 win 3 losses at home
St.Louis 1 win 2 losses at home
Golden State 0 wins 3 losses at home
Raptors 1 win 2 losses at home.

...Home teams a combined 3-10 in finals

I wonder if the Dogs should put up a plaque/banner for Dogs alumni who win the Stanley Cup?.. Would you now retire Petro’s #10? Dunn’s #4(you know, how pathetic is that - I can’t remember if it was 4 or 5)?

Maybe not retire numbers, but put up a plaque inscribing all the Dogs/year/team who have earned a Stanley Cup rings - keep the criteria simple - PLAYER & former Ice Dog. Make it a permanent component of the Sports Hall of Fame.

Didn't Andrew Shaw also win a Stanley Cup?
