BUYER:
Jan. 9, 2017 Traded: 11th - 2017. Jan 10, 2019 Traded: 4th IceDogs acquired: Jake McGrath August 30, 2019 Traded: 10th IceDogs acquired: Dakota Betts The market value for elite and lesser talent is set by OHL GMs trading comparable players (e.g., pts, drafted, undrafted, signed, position, age, etc…). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- F - Jason Robertson (Dallas) / D - Jacob Paquette (Nash) deal was similar to the Taylor Raddish / Jordan Sambrook deal. SIMILAR TRADE: SSM ACQUIRED: F-Taylor Raddysh (TB) and D-Jordan Sambrook (Det) SSM TRADED: 1st Rd Hayden Fowler; 5 x 2nd, 2 x 3rd, 2 x 6th Before Paquette was traded the deal was almost identical - after he was dealt, the cost was only: •2nd rd Billy Constantinou •Ian Martin •Peterborough 2nd (2021) •Niagara 2nd (2022) •Niagara 2nd (2023) •London 3rd (2024) ------------------------- •Windsor 7th (2019) •Niagara 11th (2021) •Niagara 13th (2020) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The cost for Jack Studnicka was established by the Robert Thomas deal – and the cost of Matt Brassard was similar to another average OA defenseman (Nic Mattinen) traded at the deadline. Trade: Lleyton Moore, 3 x 2nd and 3 x 3rd IceDogs acquired: Jack Studnicka and Matt Brassard. Player 1: IceDogs acquired: Jack Studnicka (Canada World Jrs.) IceDogs Traded: (1st Rd #12) Lleyton Moore, 2 x 2nd and 2 x 3rd Similar Trade: Hamilton acquired: Robert Thomas (Canada World Jrs.) Hamilton traded: (1st Rd #11) Connor McMichael, 2 x 2nd and 2 x 3rd Player 2: IceDogs acquired: Matt Brassard (NHL Drafted/Unsigned) IceDogs Traded: 1 x 2nd and 1 x 3rd Similar Trade: Oshawa acquired: Nic Mattinen (NHL Drafted/Unsigned) Oshawa traded: 1 x 2nd and 1 x 3rd --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In comparison to other Top 5-10 scorers traded, OA Sam Miletic trade amounted to a 2nd instead of a 3rd - a slight overpay but no prospect was moved as was the case in some of those other OA deals. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Adrian Carbonara deal (an OA enforcer) was duplicated this year when Oshawa acquired Danial Walker for 4th round pick. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Ivan Lodnia trade: Did Joey Burke just flat out make a “great” deal or were there extenuating circumstances that fans are not privy too? These type of “great” trades are often a result of an agent, nhl team, parent/player demand (or a panic situation) – that handcuffs a GM and forces a one sided deal. The Lodnia deal (and some other ohl trades) were NOT brilliant GM trades but rather trades of circumstance – the right team, right player, right time. GMs can’t plan for that type of trade to fall onto their lap – they must be prepared to pay market value. The notion that Joey Burke overpays (or is not doing a good job) is just not accurate or factual. If a fan “doesn’t like a trade” or “doesn’t like Joey Burke” that is an opinion. Valuing any of his trades based on facts or opinions are different conversations or discussions. |

Jan. 9, 2017 Traded: Chris Paquette For: Nate McDonald, 2nd - 2017, 2nd - 2018, 2nd - 2021, 2nd - 2020 and 3rd – 2022 August 27, 2018 Traded: Justin McPherson IceDogs acquired: 3rd – 2020, 3rd – 2022 and a 5th - 2023. Doherty and 6th 2021 September 12, 2019 Traded: OA Jacob Paquette IceDogs acquired: 2020 3rd, 2021 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. November 1, 2019 Traded: OA Drew Hunter IceDogs acquired: 2021 4th (Erie) The recent trade of Drew Hunter is just another example of the considerable success Joey Burke has had as a seller. Now, JB has three elite OHL players to trade. The next 14 months are critical. |

In your logic you justify the Militec trade because he only slightly overpaid ... which according to your logic doesn’t make him a bad GM...
In my logic ... there was absolutely no need to acquire a player like Militec that year ... did he seriously thing they were a contender that year? If so he’s more clueless than I thought he was. Therefore In my mind he overpaid by wasting precious assets ... so I think that was one of his worst trades he’s ever made, even if, according to your logic, he only slightly overpaid. IMO That trade has got to be one of the dumbest trades this team will ever make ..... “You gotta know when to hold em and know when to fold em ...” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

But when you review Joey Burke's complete body of work, as a seller and buyer, he has done a good job as a GM. If I were the GM, I would not have made the Miletic trade - and I would never have traded Lochead for anything less than a 2nd in 2019 or 2020. Other than those two moves, he has done a great job drafting, identifying talent (e.g., Maksimov), trading for elite talent (at market value), acquiring talent (below market value) and is fantastic at recouping picks (especially getting them in right years). |

Who knows if he had a choice. Playoff dates might have been the mandate handed down.
Just as bad as the Miletic trade were all the deals last year without upgrading in net. With better goal tending they would have at least advanced another round IMO. Value wise his trades have been okay, with a few great ones mixed in and drafting has been decent at the very least. At the end of the day he's a way better GM than his brother is a coach IMO. There's no reason why with the 2 lines this team can put together right now they should be as bad as they have been. If they move all the players they should this is going to get really ugly. |

That’s fair. It’s an opinion that some share and some don’t.
It’s fairly simple: Facts cant be argued (e.g., Dolphins are 1-7) but an opinions (e.g., Dolphins are better team than their win/loss record would indicate) can be ![]() |

Many a game this season, the same thought has run through my mind. I remember that I thought Tynan was the best goalie in camp last year. Staff loyal to a fault once again.. |
