A few observations from the video and still frames:

• Maksimov approaches Connor Ali (slightly crouched down) at high speed.

• Maksimov leads with his shoulder – and elbow way down the entire time.

• With his feet on the ice, the initial point of contact is Maksimov’s elbow into Ali’s chest – then almost simultaneously Maksimov’s shoulder to Ali’s shoulder – slamming his head into the glass. The high speed collision causes Maksimov to lose his balance and his arm, elbow and leg comes up as he tries to regain his balance.

It is pretty clear that Maksimov approached the hit with his elbow down. The sequence of contact was: chest - shoulder - and then head.

When Ali was told he had to leave the game by the ref. He asked, "Why?". The trainer raised his eyebrow as if to say ‘really” – and escorted Ali away while shaking his head.

I captured 6 still frames to share. I just need NiceDawg to help me out (pm).

Dhillon played for two periods and allowed 6 goals on 27 shots, while Incze played the third and allowed 2 goals on seven shots:

You can't really fault the refs for making that call - 5 and game. At game speed, it looked like Maksimov had his elbow up and drilled him with it. However, the league has access to video replay and can freeze each frame. The fact that he goes into the hit with this elbow way down - will certainly help him when they review the hit.

Coach Burke:

“That’s what a legitimate championship contender looks like. We’re a threat in our conference and a threat to win our division, but I wouldn’t call us a legitimate championship contender right now. We had four 16-year-olds in the lineup today. It’s a tough test and the guys they didn’t go away. They battled until the end. There were a lot of positives.

“I thought Nardi did a great job. He’s having an all-star season in Junior B and he’s earned this opportunity. Throwing him in against one of the best teams in the country, he looked good. I liked him and Billy together and they’ll be a nice compliment as they get older.”

I'm hoping Castleman was pulled from game because he is being traded.
IMO, the guy has regressed this year and is invisible the majority of times.
