Can't attend during the day - maybe tomorrow night - but how are the goalies fairing - Dhillon & Incze secure in their roles?

Hammer time on the IceDogs blueline
by Bill Sawchuk
https://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/...dogs-blueline/

"I think there is a lot more I can add to my game," Ham said. "It's always on my mind. The coaches know how much respect I have for the game, and that I want to make a career out of it.

"I think I have gained their respect and trust. They play me in situations where the game is on the line. The time and effort I put into this have paid off, but there is no way I am going to take my foot off the gas pedal."

Very interesting and informative observations from our astute fan base. It has definitely made me focus on players that I initially over-looked

My camp observation to this point...

Without going into all the details of our returning player – suffice it to say they stand out (e.g., Tomasino, Jones, Constantinou) as excellence OHL players and gave me a standard to compare the others to.

Ivan Lodnia: Outstanding! He will be one of the league’s best players!

Leyton Moore: His speed and elusiveness is exciting to watch. No chipping the puck off the glass here, Moore is going to skate it out with ease.

Kyen Sopa: High hockey IQ, two-way player, great passer and OHL calibre skater. If he demonstrates, on a regular basis, his strength – scoring goals, he is a top 6 forward. sOPA!

Mason Howard: Exactly as advertised. A big physical presence, who punishes puck-carriers with clean open ice hits (4 or 5 per game).

The Ice Dogs may have “knocked it out of the park” with their 2018 draft: Moore, Uberti, Simms, Rizzo, Vreugendhill, Tynan and DeSimone are going to be the cornerstone of the next championship team. Had this bit of information passed along to me - DeSimone has yet to showcase his lethal shot considered to be one of the best in the GTA last year.

Expected more from Mazzelli, Theriault, Balbosa but pleasantly surprised by the play of Dukis-Dupui, Dorr and Butler – still trying to get a read on Bissonnette.

The following names (Hurley, Snow, Laychur) were mentioned as having impressed. I've not really noticed anything noteworthy yet, other than they are all really small, but I'll keep watching.

If the Ice Dogs need a shootout specialist, of the likes of Jussi Jokinen - 2018 U-18 draft 1st rounder Jacob Code, would be a good candidate.

Ryan Campbell was seen walking around the MC with the aid of crutches – an unconfirmed injury to his foot is the word on the street.

Anyone attend the scrimmage this morning? When will the rosters be out for the white and black game tonight? Any players so far looking like they can make the team that are a surprise? General thoughts on what we will look like to start the season and what we need to bring in by January to make a run for it?

Good news for IceDog hopefuls. This current roster is not the finish line…

IceDogs’ expectations rising with camp underway
by Bill Sawchuk  The St. Catharines Standard
https://www.stcatharinesstandard.ca/...camp-underway/

"You win in this league when you have a top six that can compete at an elite level," Burke said. "The third line will be able to play all 200 feet. The fourth-line will work hard and move well. That's how you put a championship team together. "We may be a piece or two away, but we are thrilled with where we are starting."

Lodnia brings talent, experience
By Bill Potrecz - August 30, 2018
http://www.bpsportsniagara.ca/lodnia...nt-experience/

IceDogs coach Billy Burke feels Lodnia’s post-season experience will be invaluable. “We’re starting to put together a group of guys who have won games, won playoff rounds.”

...here is my (likely inaccurate) attempt at the start line.

98 Stephen Dhillon
99 Colton Incze

98 Jonathon Schaefer
99 Daniel Bukac
99 Liam Ham
99 Elijah Roberts
99 Drew Hunter
01 Billy Constantinou
01 Mason Howard
02 Lleyton Moore

99 Ivan Lodnia
99 Kiril Maksimov
99 Ben Jones
99 Matthew Philip
99 Bradey Johnson
99 Oliver Castleman
00 Akil Thomas
00 Kyen Sopa
00 Andrew Bruder
01 Phillip Tomasino
01 Ian Martin
02 Jake Uberti
02 Jonah De Simone
02 Toby Rizzo

On the Niagara pre-season roster, all our regular players are listed.

Up front, DeSimmon and Uberti are on the list.

Nardi and AJ Cook are shown on the D- list.

Both rookie goalies are on the list as well.
