I would say Burke and his scouting team seem like they're trying to put a team together that can overwhelm with speed and skill. Ideally they'd draft some guys that fit that mold but who are also big but you only get those guys very early in the draft unless you get lucky. Hopefully Halliday has all the tools plus size.
I still don't think this team has ever lost to a team because of size in the playoffs. Oshawa sure used their size against the Dogs a few years back but they were a far better team. I'd be a lot more worried about getting these kids to train and eat like pros year round. If the desire is no longer there to commit to getting better send them packing. |

Al little bit bigger might help especially in defense.

![]() Agree 100% In game three especially the Bulldogs played a classic dump and chase game in the third ... it was relentless ... heavy forecheck and pound the Dogs defenseman .... the Dogs d had a tough time getting the puck out of our end ... I give them credit they went back there and took the hits and didn’t back down ... but it ended up costing us and forcing an overtime. Plus our pint size d couldn’t move players from in front of the net in both series. I’d really like to see a bigger back end but I’m resigned to the fact that is never going to happen cuz we’ve rarely ever had that and they constantly draft undersized quick puck moving d Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

In the end, this playoff experience against Oshawa and Hamilton will make this group of Ice Dogs players, coaches and GM more experienced, more determined, more confident and more aware of what is needed to climb the final rungs to a title.

Have to think Akil Thomas will be added to the Canadian U18 with Niagara eliminated tonight. Big boost to that team. |

like to see Drew Hunter 6'3 186 and Justin Macpherson 6'1 171 put on more muscle and be a lot tougher. especially around the boards in our own zone..

And to even go on the wild side and maybe trade a free wheeling, very good skating defenseman, but not physical for big, good skating hard to play against in our end defense-man. Just a thought but, my wish for next fall. |

IceDogs on track for next season
By Bill Potrecz - April 13, 2018 http://www.bpsportsniagara.ca/icedog...r-next-season/ “I definitely think we’re on the right path,” Burke said. “There’s the European draft and maybe make a few acquisitions in the summertime, but the building blocks are there." |
