I hope they wait and hand pick an overager or 2 if the team proves worthy maybe around Christmas.

Lochead is back for sure if I'm picking the team. He's their top D IMO. His skating has improved by leaps and bounds. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets drafted.

Burke has stated that both goalies have shown they can be starters. I'd bring them both back to start the year and give Inzce a real shot to take the starting job and then proceed from there unless they get an offer they can't refuse for either one. Ideally Inzce takes the job and it opens another overage slot.

I agree! Lochead should definitely be back. He is one of the top OAs d-man likely returning to the OHL.

Perhaps, a rule change is imminent that would allow 20-year-old goalies to be exempted from the cap on three over-agers per team?

For the Ice Dogs to be serious Eastern Conference contenders next year, they will need to add at least 3-4 players (OAs and/or Imports).

The one OA, on this list, stands out as the perfect fit - Brandon Saigeon (6'2" – 195lbs).

Hamilton will be selling and Niagara will be buying a top 6 high-scoring forward. Saigeon is a local boy (Grimsby) who grew up attending Ice Dog games at The Jack – the perfect way for him to finish his OHL career playing for the team he was a fan of as child - in a year the Ice Dogs hope to win a championship.

Ideally, the Ice Dogs acquire Saigeon in the off season, so he’s in the opening day lineup.

Did the Ice Dogs start the season with two OA vacancies?

This is a very good post Blacksox, thanks for putting it together.

Perhaps it would be helpful if you wouldn’t mind editing the kids names and putting their position codes besides there names. Thanks

The OA situation in Niagara is one under the microscope, I will get to this later, but first perhaps we could gather some historical data first.

My question is, in the Burke’s reign, perhaps a detailed year by year list of each years Over Agers going into the season would be helpful.

We all agree that the current Over Agers on the roster may not be up to snuff in your “go for it year” and will need to be swapped out.

We all know that the Burke’s treat their Baby Burke’s like family, and have been to a fault too loyal at times with there players (strohs love the Burks for this).

I am thinking that they will be reluctant to replace any of their family, any may just go with the four OAgers in a rotation basis.

If we had some data from the past 10years we may have our answer.

Here is a better idea, why don't we wait and see who the Ice Dogs OAs are after the trade deadline. That would give us the actual answer.
