In regards to OAs, here is a look at what the Ice Dogs did in the previous “go for it” years. Ice Dogs have rostered quality OAs and have been aggressive in the trade market to improve their chances. As fan, that is all you can ask from an organization.

2012
Ice Dogs OAs were David Pacan, Alex Friesen and Andrew Agozzino. They traded Mike Schwindt and released Andrew Johnson. In addition, the Ice Dogs traded for Jamie Oleksiak, Tom Kuhnhackl, Brock Beukeboom and Brett Ritchie.

2016
Ice Dogs OAs were Jordan Maletta, Anthony Defruscia and Stephen Harper. They traded Brian Brosnan and Mikkel Aagaard, and released Mitchell Fitzmorris. In addition, the Ice Dogs traded for Ho Sang, Jenys, Wesley, Mantha and Nedeljkovic.

No disrespect to them, but we definitely need better OA's than them.

The OA situation in Niagara is one under the microscope, I will get to this later, but first perhaps we could gather some historical data first.

My question is, in the Burke’s reign, perhaps a detailed year by year list of each years Over Agers going into the season would be helpful.

We all agree that the current Over Agers on the roster may not be up to snuff in your “go for it year” and will need to be swapped out.

I agree they gotta go in order to go for it but I’d try my best to trade them for anything first as for Saigeon he’s gotta be available which who knows if Hamilton like him enough they might want to keep him around the younger team

Fortunately for the Ice Dogs, Hamilton likely has no choice but to trade him. They have no 2nd round picks for the next 8 years. The Ice Dogs have a couple of 2nd and 3rd to get that deal done, if in fact Saigeon is the player they have their eye on.

From what I understand, every player has a no trade clause (at least the 1st round picks do). Saigeon is a local boy who grew up watching the Ice Dogs. I doubt he would turn down a trade with the Ice Dogs to play for a rebuilding Hamilton in this final OHL year, when he is trying to jumpstart a pro career.
