Interesting there was no mention of a new arena for Brantford in the article.unless they are waiting how much fan support there is.

If they are putting in $10 million into the old rink, I doubt they would build a new arena. I think it’s more realistic that if the team draws well in Brantford, they would add another 1000+ seats and some suites to the old arena. Don’t forget the Icedogs played in the Jack for 7 years and after the $10 million renovations the Brantford rink will be much better than the Jack was.

I have to wonder-as much of a pipe dream as this might be, considering the OHL would probably shoot this idea down in a heartbeat-would the possibility exist of the IceDogs going the way of, say, Green Bay and have community ownership? (It's not unprecedented: the Rochester Red Wings of the Triple A International League have been community owned since the 1950s, when over 8,000 people pooled their money and bought the team and the stadium they played in when the St. Louis Cardinals decided they would no longer operate the Red Wings.) The Toledo Mud Hens of the same league are, likewise, owned by a non-profit company(and a division of the company owns the ECHL's Toledo Walleye).

Another thing: Correct me if I'm wrong, but this would also leave the NLL's Toronto Rock homeless as well, right? Where on earth would THEY go for the next 2-3 seasons? They left Scotiabank Arena in Toronto...and the arenas in Mississauga & Brampton can't hold a candle to Hamilton in terms of capacity.
