We were never in the bottom three in crowds even the years we played at the Jack.

Mississauga IceDogs were... hence the reason they kept the Major's. Bodes well for the team when out attendance is nearly double some of the bottom three. I just hope the club isn't bolstering their attendance with cheap seats.

I heard Rod Mawhood announce they had a record number of groups at the last game. I believe he said 22 different groups and wanted to know which group was the loudest. I have never learned which group was the loudest or why he wants to know. I do know however that group sales pay a fraction of the ticket price.

We have purchased our season tickets since almost the beginning because win enjoy the Ice Dogs and the OHL (OHL at times LOL). We have those tickets because it guarantees that we sit in the same seats for every game and have first dibs on playoff tickets for those same seats.
I have zero problems with the group sales or the discounted seating as I love being there when the barn is full and loud which makes for a great environment. As long as the kids are not running around all over the rink. What the Burke's charge for those tickets is their decision. As a businessman, I would rather sell the tickets lower for groups than have half of the rink empty and get zero dollars. Good on the Burke's for doing what they do for the community and growing the sport in Niagara. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

School groups are charged 12 dollars per ticket. In addition, they have a working agreement with Governor Simcoe (perhaps Denis Morris also) – whose guidance department and teachers, have been entrusted by the team to provide their players the daily assistance required to combine school and the excessive number of hours of an OHL players. Those discounted tickets are a “thank you” gesture by the organization - and encourages their classmates to attend the game, support their new friends and hopefully become future STH.
The Ice Dogs, as evident by their attendance numbers, have done an incredible job marketing the team across the entire Niagara Region. Like RSJ, I prefer when the arena is full and really don’t mind how they do it! I purchase my season tickets each year because I love my seat location, enjoy the game and simply to support local Jr. A hockey (in much the same way as I do for the Heart and Stroke Foundation each year). * Last edited by Blacksox; 11-21-2017 at 09:50 AM. |

Most teams have group sales I do not mind it brings people to the arena and they spend their money on other things .

Yes group sales are cheaper. Most OHL teams sell group seats. The seats are usually in the ends or corners. I believe when it was my kids’ school for a group game tickets were $12. My premium season tickets actually cost me about $17. Face value on my tickets is $25. Doubt they sell very many at $25... IMHO who cares if the group tickets are $12. The rink is fuller, they buy concessions, they become fans...some become repeat customers . And it ‘costs’ the Dogs about $5 per person, for a seat they likely aren’t going to sell anyways. Shrewd business plan IMHO. Now what I don’t like is the $2 playoff tickets that are supposed to be for high school students that end up in the hands of adults ... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
