Brannon Butler was selected 12th overall by the Dogs in the Under-18 OHL Selection. Do you think Butler could step right in to the lineup in September?

Obviously that will be up to Brannon Butler this summer and his preparedness towards September. At his age, a lot can change over the summer for better or worse.
From what I have seen/heard of him, his skating is good and seems to be a gritty player. I'd sure be happy to see him crack the lineup in September. Last edited by TwoPadStack; 04-12-2018 at 11:07 AM. Reason: I press buttons, some good some bad. |

I'm going with no. The reason being, I read that of the entire U18 draft last year, only 3 players made it to the OHL this year. I'm sure there is a few more that played a game here or there. But, just the 3 guys that you would describe as "making" the team. Out of those three, none of them had more than 3 points. I guess there can always be a surprise, but if I'm a betting guy... I'll take the no.

Butler won’t make the team at least I can’t see it happening we are going to have a first round pick on D to try and fit in and possibly an import I think the D will be different to start the season next year but not 2-3 players difference

If I could stick a jersey on him and send him to Hamilton to play for us tonight I would.

I would say he’s not making the team for many of the reasons previously mentioned ...
Another question would be I wonder if any of the five players the Icedogs claimed in last years draft would crack the roster next year? To refresh your memory, I did a google search, and here are the five taken by Niagara last year: 1-Abdul Abouzeeni (D) 2000 2-Jaleel Adams (RW) 2000 3-Riley Eberhardt (G) 2000 4-Brendan Guidnard (D) 2000 5-Matthieu Dokis-Dupuis (C) 2000 Dokis-Dupuis is captain of his team and has put up impressive numbers at the level he’s playing at...I’m just not sure what level that is lol. Oh looks like it’s only AAA midget ... Apparently his team is in the Telus Cup in Sudbury at the end of the month ... I seem to recall Eberhardt might have been at our camp last year, perhaps some of the others were too I don’t remember ... his name was the only one that sounded familiar to me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Realistically the U18 PS is a joke. Teams could have whoever they wanted sign as a free agent.

Wonder what the purpose of it is ? I agree seems like kinda a joke of a draft .... 99% of these guys aren’t going to go anywhere in the OHL ... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
