As far as I am concerned he was picked up for the simple fact that he is an import He is essentially useless out there you could easily find an Ontario kid just as terrible as him lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If Da Dummy ends up with first pick overall you really think he is going to make the Gens overpay for the bro bro ? Initially they may over pay but then DooDooDummy will overpay for a marginal player coming back the other way I am sure Kinda like this year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So, my guess is.... a handful of top players, their parents/agents say they will not report to Niagara. If drafted they're going NCAA or USHL or any of the other options available. The Dogs settle for the 6th or 7th best talent available. And in classic Joey Burke style, the Dogs say something like "we've watched him all year, we've targeted him all year, this is the player we wanted all along". The damage this guy has done in a few short months in staggering on many levels. |

If you are yet another star in a constellation of other stars it is difficult to get recognized. Someone like Kevin He however, on Team A he might not have stood out as much yet on a team like Niagara, he (He) is noticeable in every shift. I guess it is the choice of being a large part of something small or a tiny part of something big. If I were a head scout/GM, these are the conversations I would be having with players, agents and families. You can anchor a team around one player (can you say Connor McDavid) and go from the basement to the top. Getting that "franchise player" you build on the intangible rewards: top line year one plus special teams, A in year two, C in year three, showcased in the media and in the community, we will market you as our "brand"; you want to be noticed - you will be the face of our team... |

This is what happened with Fimis - how did that work out?

I personally never saw the value of that player. Perhaps it was the work of the *#@&$! scouting staff over-selling a player who would report, but he never lived up to the hype. That entire 2020 draft year fizzled.
But in the end, if a player doesn't measure up, do what Niagara did, (a year late) and trade him. |
