Apparently, they are happy to have an OHL team improve and move to the Brantford Civic Center (As long as it is not owned by the guy that bought Niagara )

Sounds like it could become long term if the team does well there.

I hope I am around to see whether or not this happens

I cannot imagine they build a new arena in Brantford. Although I was shocked one got built in STC. Anything can happen I guess. Different environment now then when arena in STC was built (cost of real estate, cost of borrowing, cost of anything significantly higher than ten years ago)

I think they end back up in a renovated Hamilton arena with a better lease arrangement due to the leverage the bulldogs may get with a successful stint in Brantford

Brantford is growing. Ancaster, Paris and Caledonia are not far away. If they actually fill this current building and do well. The city might be able to make a case to do what we did in St. Catharines.

Time will tell.

OHL board of Governors meeting tomorrow to officially approve it heard they are looking to build a new arena also.

One of the terms of the city’s agreement with the Bulldogs is that Brantford “agrees to consider the development of a new sports and entertainment facility with a capacity of 5,000 spectators and the capability to host major junior hockey.”

DDD has been a fantastic owner/GM for this team. I don't think anyone can deny that. We should all be very grateful for having him. That said if it's always been his dream to bring OHL hockey to Brantford although it would be disappointing as an Icedog fan I think he should pursue his dream. The sooner the better.
