I am starting to wonder about the coaching, we can't come up with a system / urgency to get the puck out of our end, on the powerplay we stay away from the front of the net to block the goalies view, these are fundamentals! I think we have some decent forward talent, an awful defense and who knows about the goalies these guys are peppered every night with 50 shots. It's going to be 2 years if all goes well to be a competitive team that is assuming management comes up with a plan and sticks to it - sorry for being longwinded!

Hate to be negative but this team will not be competitive again until a competent GM who can operate without the owner getting his fingers in the pie, is hired.

In addition to his impatience, and his flawed logic that we should never have to go through a rebuild, His assessment of talent simply is woefully sub-par IMO.

Some of the players he has brought in have been good but I would say more who have been brought in and are on the current roster are mediocre and I do not expect his assessment of talent to improve unless an experienced GM and scouts are brought in to assess players.

I think it is an easy call to make that this team will be irrelevant until these changes happen. I do not expect to see them make the playoffs any time soon .

It's hard to judge the coaching staff.

The team is currently icing 2 defenseman (Vannetten & Runco) that should be in jr b and a 4th line (Klein, Hull, and Stewart) that should be in junior B.

The third line should be a 4th line and/or junior B.

The 2nd line should be a third line and the top line is super young.

Asking more from this lineup from a coaching staff is asking A LOT.

Its not always about systems, often its just about ability.

Agreed

Five of the players regularly playing are not OHL quality players

And sadly two of them were DeDummy acquisitions (Hull and Klein). All five are in over their heads in this league.


But even some of the regulars are lacking in skill and ability too

Watching last night it was unbelievable to see how fast the Soo could move the puck in the icedogs end

But when the icedogs had the puck in the Soonend it was painfully slow. Players like the LeBlanc kids, Ribau, and the five aforementioned guys, simply cannot move the puck quickly. Which leads to no zone time and no pressure in the offensive end.

He has brought in so many marginal players and even worse overpaid for them

Hard to pass judgement on his coaching job. Came in half way thru the season, dysfunctional team when he arrived. He didn’t get to have a training camp with them. Let’s wait and see.
