As far as Verhaeghe goes, I think he dogs it all the time. It doesn't make sense to me that Verhaeghe, as a drafted player, wouldn't want to impress his NHL bosses. He's a guy that has offensive talent(and boy, do the Dogs need offense)yet is very much a perimeter player. Even if the Dogs were looking to trade him, Verhaeghe has made a trade to anybody near impossible.

There is something seriously wrong with the Niagara IceDogs and it is looking more and more like a coaching problem. A player under-performing here leaves and is on a great run with a new team. A great performer leaves his old team and comes here and is under-performing. Last night would have been really ugly if not for the play of Brandon Hope. Our systems are ineffective. Our power play is horrendous and we can't buy a goal. Time for some drastic changes.

I'm sorry that this is coming across so negative but I am tired of watching the same crap game after game. This team was a lot more fun to watch last year when they weren't expected to do anything.
Do you really think 3 games is a large enough sample to determine a "great run" vs "under-performing"!?!?!?!?

I wouldn't say we outplayed London. London employed a defensive system that stymied and frustrated the IceDogs on nearly every rush. It makes sense that LDN won close games against the Dogs, because all they did was employ the trap, retrieve the puck, and score on odd-man rushes. I do remember feeling during that series that the Dogs were easily capable of beating LDN on paper: I think they did have a superior team. It's just that Williamson could not beat LDN's trap. As soon as LDN figured out a way to knock the puck off of the Dogs on the rush, there was nothing the Dogs could do, even with all that offensive talent. The Knights had NIA's number, before the Dogs even came out of their own zone.

No, actually I was referring to an article about the IceDogs' playoff series with the London Knights, what, last year? Maybe in 2013? Whenever it was they played LDN last in the playoffs.

Wouldn't do it. It's fair value and then some but with the Dogs looking more towards next year it doesn't make sense.
The way Verhaeghe has been playing he's better than 50% to come back next year IMO. I couldn't imagine him playing in the AHL the way he's been playing and would think he'd choose a Memorial Cup contender over ECHL.
