I don't even know if it's possible to get a 100% commitment at this stage without a LEGAL written signature on a piece of paper. Obviously a verbal commitment (Halliday) means nothing.

What unfolds on April 4, will be the result of exactly what was discussed behind closed doors between OHL GMs and Fantilli’s advisors/parents. All we know is only the information they are willing to disclose to the public. As fans, we are left to speculate what we think or hope will happen. The GMs, who have all the information presented to them, will make an informed decision which will be the right decision for the organization.

IceDogs are in a great spot picking #2. The next Tomasino or Thomas will be drafted soon - and if Niagara drafts Fantilli you can be sure there is a reason for doing so.

So, what do the IceDogs do if Fantilli is available at #2. An argument could be made either way, and although torn on this, Im leaning towards selecting him. Reason: IceDogs rebuild has 3 more years. Niagara would have Fantilli, for minimum, his 2 best years - in the two most important years of the rebuild. Since , it is expect that the IceDogs will be only be battling for 7th or 8th anyways, it would be similar to deferring your pick.

Highly doubt the IceDogs go down this road - and if their decision is to select a player they are high on, I completely understand their reasoning, since the alternative come with some risk.

In some ways this is like...Do the IceDogs select a Tomasino or Thomas for 4 years or a Quinton Byfield or Shane Wright for 2 years, albeit the right 2 years?

Your thoughts on this?

What an interesting draft this will be. Can?t wait to see what happens next Saturday.

Well when you put it that way then I think I select him .... but you gotta have some type of guarantee ($) that he is going to eventually report .... god help us if they select him and JB says he will ?100%? report

Guess the question becomes

Is he a franchise player a la Byfield / Wright?

Only those who have seen him play a lot would know .

What the heck go all I ... I would love to watch a talent like that for two years.

Next year is a write off anyways .... I just hope we don?t finish last overall lol

No way they can take the risk of him not showing up and going two years without a first round pick.

I agree with you. If someone else takes him, we could get some picks for the brother.

I think it?s the annual time of year to say

The OHL draft process is a joke

I can?t understand for the life of me why the other 18-19 governors on the board don?t look at changes for the whole USHL/NCAA issue

It?s like they can?t see with their own eyes what happens every year?

Unreal

...incomprehensible actually, especially when this re-occurring problem can be easily corrected in a way that is fair and equitable for all teams.

The powers that be in the league aren't concerned with equity. They want the best players in the league, regardless of 'fairness'. Their thought would be - build your program to be strong enough so players want to go there.
