How many of their remaining games are against teams either higher or tied in the overall standing?

I do not know about anyone else here, but, when our team plays a team that is lower in the standings than they are, and should beat, they forget to show up and play 60 minutes. They seem to think that the two points for them is a given... Wrong... Surprise like our last home games and the Barrie game that they only played 20 minutes.

They play better against stronger teams that they should lose to.

Just my thoughts.

I think that’s the case for most in this league except for the best teams and it’s probably the opposite for the bad teams they show in games they have no business in and no show games against other bad teams

I’m still not sure they can reach it wins wise but I’m confident they can reach the points marks of 80

When Billy Burke was quoted, “Right from Day 1, we’ve talked that we want to win 40 games and if we do that we think that will put us right in the conversation for the division.”

That is a goal and NOT a prediction. There is a difference.

So looking at the team’s record at the midway point, not only has Burke achieved his goal but probably surpassed it.

After 34 games, 20 wins means 40 points and 14 losses. However, the 41 points collected through an 18 – 11 – 3 – 2 record is the accomplishment of more competitive team then one with a 20-14 record – losing only 11 games in regulation time (instead of 14) - and playing well enough to give themselves a chance to win an additional 5 game in the skills competition.

Coach Billy Burke's Mid-term Mark: A

A great job by the entire coaching and scouting staff!

Here is part of a story from Sportsnet on the top CHL new coaches and their rankings from 1 - 10.
Niagara is on the list.......At #6.

Here’s a look at some of the most successful new coaches in the CHL
By Sam Cosentino from Sportsnet:
6. Billy Burke, Niagara IceDogs: Nepotism was thought to be the main reason behind the hiring of Burke in Niagara, with his parents Denise and Bill as team owners, but the IceDogs have been at or near the top of the OHL’s Central Division standings all season long. The addition of Ted Dent to the staff has made a difference, but Burke has done a great job handling a young team amidst the noise surrounding the family-run operation. The Dogs have been equally as good at home as they’ve been on the road, they play hard and have proven they can beat the league’s best. Niagara has regularly given up the first goal in games, though, which is an area they must improve on. While regular season placement doesn’t ensure playoff success, it’s hard to argue with their results to date.
