With the semi-lockdown announcement I am assuming the season will need to be paused.

Good news. Looks like OHL games will continue to be played despite the new restrictions.

The Ontario Government provided a loop-hole for select "elite-level" athletics. The OHL will make its case that it should be included in that exemption, but I see the Province countering with strict capacity limits - likely the 1,000 seats that Mississauga claims each game night.

If the OHL agrees to that, rather than pausing the season, then the teams will have to decide to to invite and who to leave out. Doesn't make sense but, then very little about this does. Stay tuned...

Looks like they are making plans to play games to an empty arena.

I also noticed there are no plans to provide refunds to STH who purchased tickets in advance but now can't go to games. The team has advised that STH will receive account credit for future purchases (extra seats this year or to offset next year's tickets).

"Toronto, Ont. – The Ontario Hockey League Board of Governors conducted a meeting this morning to address next steps in light of the recent order issued by the Government of Ontario taking effect today, Wednesday, January 5.

The League has reaffirmed its commitment to continue the 2021-22 OHL season.

The OHL is currently in conversation with government and public health and will have further updates in this area in the very near future."
