In answer to the second concept they only need 10 players ~ 40% to hold a meeting to certify a union and take a vote? So yeah, with 10 players being promised all sorts of benefits the union can call a meeting and only needs two more players to vote ~ 50% and congrats you have a union. Also if the employer tries to obstruct the formation of a union they can be fined.

So stop looking for one ring-leader, this is an organized union operating in Niagara's backyard.
They can turn around and stop paying and stop offering scholarships to future players. While some players might opt out most would stay IMO. Players would no longer burn their NCAA eligibility by simply playing. Essentially they could run the team the same as a junior b team with much better players. Players could try and get drafted and still have NCAA to fall back on. There really wouldn't be a better option for most at the end of the day.

I’m very familiar with the Professional Hockey Player's Association but the meeting was with fraudster Randy Gumbley. Just google his name, not good - it seems improbable that a group of 22 IceDogs, not one met with him.
Not true. Several franchises have unions at some locations but not all.

Well, that would make for interesting league! However, my post was not about the formation of unions – that’s why I said that is another discussion - interesting one though.

I was merely redirecting the discussion back to my initial post, which was: ohl Insiders tweeted out that IceDog players met with Randy Gumbley – but since ohl insider is unable to revealed a name or how these 22 players were “poorly treated”, I have hard time believing this story is true, especially if it involves Gumbley.

I just can’t believe 22 of these current IceDog players would meet with him under any circumstances.

He is one interesting dude!

FYI The DogPound Podcast has an open invitation to suggest some question for Joey Burke…

https://mobile.twitter.com/DogPoundP...36436168708096

Possible questions from our website? Maybe someone can post them for us?

1 Any possibility of D-David Gucciardi, D-Tyler Procious, F-Stephen Halliday signing?
2 Are there a few names that you are focussed on for the import draft?
3 Overage situation? Are you looking for an upgrade?
4 ?
5 ?

It still blows me away that the name of Halliday keeps popping up in conversations.
This is my personal opinion, of course, and my wife and I watched him along with all the other Niagara prospects at the OHL Gold Cup shortly after the draft.
I have stated this previously many times that he was only going for the skate and did not show at anytime that he even wanted to be there.
I wrote him off right there and have moved on from this young man, but, I do wish him all the best in his future plans.
That's it, Knock yourselves out folks LOL

I agree at this point, Halliday is a longshot at best, but mentioned those 3 names in particular because of their circumstances – and maybe they have changed over the last few month or in the case of S.Halliday things will change. I just thought that he is projected to be drafted in the middle to late rounds – and his NHL team may feel the OHL is in his best interest and he falls in our lap unexpectedly. In the case of Procious, he never committed to an NCAA program despite being a highly touted US prospect. Just wondering what his plans are. As for David Gucciardi, he lives in Toronto and maybe the opportunity to stay in Canada might be more appeal to him in light of the challenges sports faces.

I doubt the question gets asked on the podcast anyways

Thanks Blacksox but, I was always certain that Halliday was ever coming here, nor will he ever.
But, with this pandemic, a lot of unexpected stuff might start to happen, then, I would have to eat my words LOL
