I can’t imagine they are going to let their players play in what is a meaningless game for team canada ... they aren’t going to want to risk injury None of those players will play that dec 12th game unfortunately Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’d expect Giancarlo Chanton to be invited. Despite his youth, he’s consider one of the Swiss better junior defensemen. If he makes the team, playing in this tournament (the best 19 year olds in the world) would be great for his development.

Even if a player doesn’t really get into any games, the World Juniors is an experience. One that I would want a junior player to get just for the sake of being there. And who knows? Sometimes a player goes, not expecting to play, and an injury in camp gives them their chance

Ben Leeson
@ben_leeson Former Sudbury Wolves forward Mikkel Aagaard will play for the #USports All-Stars in a series of games against Canada’s national junior team hopefuls next week. Aagaard is having an excellent season for the Guelph Gryphons, with 12 goals and 12 assists in 16 games. |

The more I read, the more I see, the more I’m convinced Dale Hunter likes Akil Thomas and what he can bring to Team Canada. Of the 12 OHL players invited to camp, the name he mentions to a reporter when discussing the selection process?
London Free Press Dale Hunter is getting used to pulling double duty and tries to split up his Knights and Team Canada responsibilities. He re-watched the London-Soo game Monday, then focused on Canadian world junior players Tuesday. “I’ve seen the NCAA guys play two or three games now,” he said. “Sitting there on the bus, too, I’ll watch games. I know the Ontario players. I don’t need to watch guys like, say, Akil Thomas of Niagara, as much. I want everyone in camp to have equal (footing), so I want to see how their club coach uses them. Is he a penalty killer or power-play guy? Knowing that stuff helps.” |
