Colby Saganiuk is leaving the NTDP for Erie. Great add for the Otters next year. Nice injection of skill for them upfront.


Honestly, why can't the IceDogs draft these types of players in rounds 7-15!

Let's not get too excited here. Saganiuk had 2 goals and 3 assists in 22 games as a forward and was minus 14 and is 5'8" and 154 lbs. If we drafted someone like that everyone would be up in arms that he was too small and had no numbers

I wouldn?t complain much about the Dogs drafting a smallish player on the USNDTP.

If he?s in that program he?s gotta be one of the upper echelon players ...

Zaccchary Wisdom made prospectspipelines 2020 OHL Draft list of potential steals. The list features 15 players that should have been viewed as far more valuable than they were owing to their elite-level skill sets, and that their resulting selections were not indicative of their ultimate potentials at the OHL level and beyond.

Zaccharya Wisdom – (RW)
Drafting Team: Niagara IceDogs
Selection: Sixth Round, 102nd Overall
Prospect Pipeline Ranking: 103rd Overall

Despite Wisdom being chosen where projected, we still feel as though the choice of Wisdom by the IceDogs will prove to be nothing other than a steal in the coming years. Much like his older brother Zayde of the Kingston Frontenacs, Wisdom is an incredibly hard-working forward who boasts incredible on-ice intelligence and the ability to process the game at a high-level. This quick-thinking allows Wisdom to position himself purposefully and compliment his teammates — realities which should allow him and his fellow IceDogs to flourish in the coming years.

Is it weird that I'm really looking forward to seeing this kid on the ice... I mean, I hate when the Dogs play Zayde Wisdom... Mostly because he's physical, and hard working, which makes him tough to play against. If his brother brings this kind of 'Doggedness' maybe we're returning to being #PeskyDogs, the kind of team that other teams hate to play against. Instead of being a doormat for the league...

Begs the question why Kingston would not have taken him earlier? Sounds like a potential "keeper"
in any case.

...and why exactly couldn’t the IceDogs have taken a chance and drafted ncaa commit Zach Filak (6.01) with a 7th or 8th round pick. Sarnia gets a 1st/2nd round talent in the 9th round - we get someone who will never wear an IceDogs jersey. What a steal for the Sting. Still have no idea why the IceDogs don’t draft these guys? Frustrating.

Perhaps because they won't report? If the player or his agent decides the team or the scouting or the coaching staff aren't of interest, they can convey that pretty clearly.

I’d like to agree with you but we are talking about a team whose GM left and a coach that is terrible but yet Sarnia are able to recruit Zach Filak. This kids could have been recruited. IceDogs missed an opportunity for a big time talent. It’s unbelievable! They take no chances. Joey, trust what you have to offer.

I wish I could have made selections 7-15 for the IceDogs.
