Default IceDogs’ Injuries

WHAT HAPPENED?
Paquette’s injury occurred on the first play of the game. The puck was fired in - Paquette and the Flint player raced to the corner - Paquette was taken into the boards on what looked like a relatively innocent play.

Paquette finished the shift and looked fine. He played a second shift and did not appear to be in any discomfort. Paquette missed a few shifts and came back on for a third shift - again appeared fine but came off and went directly down the tunnel and to the dressing room.

DIAGNOSIS

Here is the point of contact - upper body perhaps his ribs.

RECOVERY

If it is an injury to the rib – which is it what it appears to be:

<> Fractured or bruised ribs are very painful, normal recovery time is three (bruised) to six weeks (fracture) and 12 weeks or more if the rib has been torn from the cartilage.

The fact that Paquette played two more shifts after that contact (and did not look to be in excruciating pain – it is most likely a bruised rib.

Billy said the same thing in the post game interview. I remember it because they usually don't say what the actual injury is, it is a upper or lower body is all we normally hear.

If it is minor, he should be good to go in a week. If it is an actual torn muscle, he will need surgery.

Typical recovery time. Mild oblique strains can heal in just a few days, severe strains can require surgery with a recovery time of 3-4 months.

My dad was watching the game from home and when I texted to see who was the injured player (we noticed only 17 on the bench) he said it was Paquette and it was an oblique injury. The only way he got that was from the tv broadcast.
