Interesting to note that Robertson was our only plus player tonight:

Nice to see the rally even thou it fell short I thought after they got two late first period goals it would have carried over in the second period but it turn out to be a bad period that cost us the game maybe McGrath should have started.

Well I predicted a "close game". Thought the Boys would grab this though. Horrid start. Nice push at the end but not enough at the final buzzer. I hope this is the "slump" and they come back for the playoffs!

What a fickle bunch of fans. A week ago after we blew the doors off the Soo everyone was talking about their trip to Halifax. Tonight we lose in the Soo and we are awful. Thanks god we don't have you guys dealing with the players. They would all be head cases by mid October

One of the good things that came from last night's game is the fact that the players were standing up for each other and it was a very physical game so let's hope it has built some team chemistry going forward.

The Icedogs never quit and you could see they cared. They outshot SSM 45 - 35. This game was on Dhillon’s poor play today.
SSM head coach John Dean analysis of the game…

Sootoday.com

“We want to get off to good starts and when the first two shots go in, you have to feel good about yourself,” head coach Dean said, “I don’t know if we deserved the lead that we had.”

“That’s a good hockey team over there but it’s no excuse,” Dean said. “We were coughing up pucks, we weren’t hard on pucks. They competed right until the final whistle.”

“He was fantastic,” Dean also said. “If not for Matt Villalta, we lose that game. 100 per cent. He was fantastic, especially in the first and second period. In the third period, we hung him out to dry.”

“If we play the way we did today, it’s going to be a tough day tomorrow,” Dean said. “We’ll put today behind us, even though it’s two points.”

Wow when the coach comes out and says that about the first two goals ... they must’ve been real stinkers lol

Lately the Stephen Dhillon I didn’t want to see has been between the pipes apparently ....

It is too bad that once again, our team did not come out for the opening faceoff ready to play.
They had to be down three goals before they came to realise that the game had begun and they missed it.
The coaching staff has to take the full blame for this.

Maybe Niagara spoils and pampers the players. Maybe instead of busing to the Soo the day before the game, they should bus there on game day.
If they are going to have bus legs (almost looked like it to me) let them have 8 hour bus legs to start the game.
Time to get tough... Coaching staff
