Default New OHL rules especially the fighting rule bring this year

I still think the fighting limit should have been left at 10. However, I'm more concerned with the lack of physical play (which is a big part of hockey).
David Branch has done a great job of taking most of the hitting out of the game. He has handed out suspensions numerous times for a clean hit (which is ridiculous).
You can actually see players line up a hit and then bail at the last moment. They are literally worried about getting suspended.
Pretty sad IMO.

Hitting is also gone in a big way from the NHL.

I seem to remember a decent amount of hitting by the Dogs in the OHL playoffs last year.

I also think from the two games I've seen this year that so far the dogs seem to hit more than last years team did.

Sure the game has changed. Less fighting. Less dirty hits. Less meatheads who can't skate. It cannot be denied that the players in the O are more skilled than ever. Personally I'd rather watch skill than some meatheads running around the ice.

As a father with a young boy just starting to play hockey, I think the game is a lot better now and safer then it ever used to be.

Oh and I'm no fan of Branch and his heavy handed suspensions for cLean hits.

I'll never forget OA Tim Billingsley getting suspended few years back for ten games for what many thought was a clean hit.

I never liked the "meatheads" either, but part of the "skill" of hockey is playing physical (mainly hitting).
It just seems that we are going down a path where eventually hitting will be literally non-existent.
You can't even hit someone hard anymore without getting supended (or fear of it).
I have noticed players lining up a hit and then you can almost see them second guess it and turn away.
The game is becoming too soft IMO.

I think you get a penalty for raising your stick above the waste on your backswing in men's hockey.

They shouldn't be allowed to raise the puck off the ice either.

Wait, they should flip the nets face down and face them open to the back boards, then, a goal can only count if it bounces off the back boards and into the net. That takes talent and knowone will get hurt. Perhaps always play 3 on 3. I'll pay big bucks to watch that. Jeepers, what's next, no tie games and mouth guard infractions?

Enough.

I have seen players throw a punch right into an opponents face without so much as a blink from a referee... something's wrong here!
