Norris would be a nice addition to our front end and he would not cost us anything... They would still have the picks and bodies to make the next couple of moves.

I, for one, cannot see this happen unless Ottawa sign him to a contract and tell him to come here.

Thoughts please

Nice piece by Matt and DJ on Norris and pretty much says it all....

Norris is in the NCAA and unsigned by the Sharks/Sens.
So to sign, he leaves the NCAA. He would then be eligble for the AHL.

Niagara would have to get him to agree to sign and play junior over the AHL. Hard sell

As I understand the rule, a player drafted out of the NCAA can sign and play in the AHL (e.g., Brady Tkachuk), however, Josh Norris was drafted out of the USNTDP.

nhl.com
Tkachuk chose to sign his first professional contract rather than return to college for his sophomore season. He is eligible to play for Belleville in the American Hockey League because he was drafted from an NCAA team.

He’s one of the rare cases that is eligible to play in the OHL as well as the AHL and NHL.

If that is incorrect, let us know!

So if Norris signs an ELC with Senators, he can play either in the NHL or with Icedogs.
Not in the AHL, correct?

I am so impressed with the knowledge on this board - it's great and 99.9% of the time accurate! Thanks - from the uninformed and can't be bothered to research myself!!!
