He's a point a game player right now. Not great use of an overage spot but a bubble team looking to go an extra round might give a third for him. I'd take that.

Honestly if someone gives up more than a 5th for him I’d be happily surprised

Default OHL Trade Deadline 2020

Well I kinda disagree a bit with you FF

We went for it with Dhillon as an OA and Schaefer and I would argue that both of them could have been upgraded. Schaefer was actually ok for us in the playoffs. I knew all along that going with Dhillon as the OA goalie wasn’t going to cut it for us unless he absolutely caught on fire which never happened.

So I think a team going for it could make a play for Castleman if it’s an upgrade to their current OA. However it wouldn’t fetch a lot for the Dogs IMO so why bother doing it.

If as some have said there isn’t much of a market for OA right now the. I would say if Akhil goes to Sagnasty then include Lodnia as well for additional compensation. They could also use that as leverage on teams in the West to try and get more for Lodnia in a separate deal.

Perhaps he won’t get a huge haul for Lodnia because he’s waited too long to trade him which I blame on JB. But not trading him at all would be completely idiotic IMO.

Plus improving Saginaw by trading both there would hurt London IMO which is always good

If it came down to pennies on the dollar in a deal with London for Lodnia then I would rather keep him. If it were any other team acquiring him for pennies on the dollar especially to a western team then I move him even at a discount.

IMO Lodnia should’ve been traded very soon after he was sent back. If JB was kept in the loop with the Wild on what was going on with Lodnia he also coulda made a conditional trade before he was even returned ... conditional upon him returning and if returned then the compensation increased accordingly. Deals like that have certainly been made in the past in the O

I think this is where an experienced OHL gm is / was needed ... we will see what JB is made of at this trade deadline ... if he’s the genius that some on here make him out to be ...

Wonder how many bridges JB has burned which is t helping him this year either ..

If Lodnia receives a gift from the Burke’s as an Icedog at the last game of the season this year ... I’ll be extremely disappointed ...

I expect that they have already bought Oliver and Elijah their gifts lol

If they can’t/ don’t move Lodnia because the market won’t allow it. I hope the people that thought the Miletic trade was a good one because “it’s easy to get picks back” will finally see the light. You just never know what’s going to happen.

I hope this blog is correct and we only trade Thomas. I want our younger players to get some playoff experience (ie. more than 4 games).

I think you are overstating the issue. We will be ok. We have some decent young players now too.

I agree with you that they’ll be ok but I don’t think trading or not trading the others mentioned will change what happens to us come playoff time

Was RoBerts hurt last game or a healthy scratch ...I thought maybe a trade was being finalized and he was just held out but doesn’t look it. Personally, and as an admitted “homer” I think Thomas (obviously) gets traded but I also think both Lodnia and Roberts move. Again, my humble option, Lodnia is one of the best OA in the league and would improve any “go for it” team and Roberts could be the puck moving power play specialist a team needs...the return for either is pure speculation... I like Castleman but as others have said he isn’t that much better than other OAs on other teams. I also think we hold on to Thomason as the return for him will be greater next year

Who are the decent young players? Enright looks good and Tynan but who knows if he'll ever be back. The rest are suspects as much as prospects.

Roberts was hurt last game according to DJ Brooks if I remember correctly. As for the trading guys just like Castleman you can trade Roberts but you aren’t getting much for him

HAHAHAHA ... thanks for pointing that out ff51. A failure to move Lodnia at all will make that Militec trade even more nonsensical and laughable ...

if JB doesn’t move Lodnia then apparently this old saying doesn’t hold true:

“A sucker born every minute”

I’d love to see JB hoodwink a non-contender into acquiring Lodnia like Hunter did to JB with Magic Sam ...
