A lot of the value on this season hinged on the return on the expected trades of Lodnia, Thomas and perhaps Tomasino. If it were up to me, I’m keeping Tomo and making two separate trades to bring in two packages of picks. I’ve heard people talk of a package deal involving Thomas and Lodnia, or Tomasino.
If Akil and Lodnia are traded in a pkg, there had better be players and picks, multiples of both, coming back. This is Joey Burke’s legacy trade right here. He could really set the Dogs up, or really screw them.

No pressure then.

There are plenty of reasons to be cautiously optimistic. Since arriving back to the OHL (Oct.19), Ivan Lodnia has significantly increased his trade value. He has gone from a 1.10 ppg player, last year, to establishing himself as one of the elite scorers in the league (1.70 ppg player), this year. The only 2 OA forwards traded after his arrival were Joey Garreffa (Oct. 20) and the return was 3 – 3rds; while NB waited until Dec. 2nd and received a 2nd, 3rd and 6th from OS for Matthew Struthers.

With the Western Conference up for grabs, an elite talent like Lodnia will draw significant interest from teams such as Flint, Saginaw, London and Windsor. All 4 of these teams will be putting their best offer forward to JB. This is a no brainer, in exchange, for a 2 – 2nd and a 3rd, someone will be getting arguably one of the best players in the league, without having to give up their 1st round 03. Lodnia is a true game changer – and will shift the balance of power in the west (and even more so if Lodnia is packaged with Akil Thomas).

Rest assure the market will be there for a high-end talent like Ivan Lodnia – the bigger question becomes what does Ivan Lodnia want and not so much what the fans or JB want.

Fans tend to discuss potential OHL trades like NHL trades - not the same. None of us have any idea of what restrictions have been places on JB from the player, parents, agent and in this case the NHL team – that loaned Lodnia (ELC) back to Niagara. The last time Lodnia was traded; his people gave Erie a list of one team. His list of teams this time around could be the same. Also, it’s not entirely impossible that his agent and NHL team are happy with his development in Niagara and will refuse any potential move of their player.

If those making the decisions on Lodnia’s future are open to a trade, rest assure there will be several teams willing to pay the price. We get our answers Jan. 9th (or sooner) .

Not sure if it has been mentioned here, but, I believe that Lodnia still has a no trade clause.
When he came here last season, the list of teams consisted of two names. This year, it might be the same or even down to one team.

IIRC, the demand was two teams, London or Niagara.

We can only hope Lodnia has given JB at least two teams. Which on a side note brings up another question - London couldn’t top Niagara offer of Singer for Lodnia

No question the IceDogs have gotten full value out of Ivan Lodnia considering what Danial Singer has produced since being traded. A really solid trade by JB. Now if the Dogs trade Lodnia, they get even more value.

But Brown said he accepted their request for a trade after last season.

“I think our hand was forced a little bit,” said Brown, who added he received a list that featured only the IceDogs and an undisclosed club.

I like Di Simone, Cato, Uberti for starters.

All have a chance to be good. I thought both Uberti and DiSimone would be ahead of where they are now after camp this fall.
