Last night, Paul Ludwinski was the latest invited guest.

This year has been by far the most impressive list of players to accept the IceDogsí invitation. It bodes well for the draft day, as these players (and their agent) would not be in attendance, if they were not considering Niagara.

Agree 100% Strohs!

I realize that the importance of draft position (Import Draft) is different than the OHL Draft but other teams have used an early pick opportunity to draft and sign a high-end talent – absolutely expecting the same from the IceDogs this year!

e.g., Kingston (#2 2019 M.Chromiak ), Flint (#5 2019 Y.Oksentyuk 2019 ), Hamilton (#20 2019 J.Mysak), Flint (#6 2018 J.Jenik traded to Hamilton), Sudbury (#3 2018 U.P. Luukkonen), Ottawa (#18 2018 M.Rossi), Petes (#9 2018 L.Kirk). Barrie (#1 2017 A. Svechnikov), Guelph (#4 2017 A. Toropchenko),…

So, just so there’s absolutely no confusion, I just looked at the original Standard article, and can confirm that the Dogs lost first round picks in 2019 and 2021. So Isaac Enright was the Dogs’ most recent 1st-rounder, from 2018. The Dogs lost the ‘19 pick, and are graciously granted one again this year, 2020. Since the 2021 pick is also gone, this 2020 pick is absolutely critical.
I have seen people say in regard to this season that it doesn’t matter if the Dogs win games this year, as they don’t have a 1st rd. pick this year. The Dogs do have a 1st round pick this year. This is why it is crucial that the Dogs, as much as it’s painful and it sucks, lose as much as possible. This is also why I still hold out a thin sliver of hope that Billy is actually not as in-over-his-head as he seems. Maybe this is all part of a grand plan. Tank this season in order to ensure as high a 1st-rounder as possible. If the Dogs can get a 5th or higher pick, maybe #1, that will offset the loss, once again, of the pick next year.
And then it is over. Our long nightmare will be at an end. Can you imagine what it will be like when the Dogs actually have a full set of draft picks? No more mental gymnastics to figure out what to do to compensate this year? To be able to build a team like everybody else does?

Enright was our 2019 1st round pick. There are times that getting info from newspapers just does not work. Sorry

Well, at least it tells me that I’m not the only one confused by the OHL sanctions. My bad. So it’s gone in ‘20 and returning in ‘21?

I believe the original sentence was the loss of 2019 and 2021 1st round draft picks plus a fine.
After the appeal process, the fine was reduced and the 2019 1st round was re-instated.

Therefore, we have a 1st round this year but not next year (2021)
All good

He was trying his darnedest to win early in the season ... do not kid yourself ... he would play basically three lines a night ... he would leave the top PP line out there REPEATEDLY for the full two minute PP ... only the top forwards saw the most important minutes .... Thomas and Sopa on the PK ...those are not the actions of a coach doing his best to tank... that?s a coach desperately trying to make the playoffs ...

That being said I do not think BB is trying to tank now .... who would be stupid enough to try to win in a first half of the season and then tank in The second half... that would be ridiculously stupid.

Which is why I think he is still trying his darnedest to win in the midst of a 2-18 record since the deadline.

He is over his head IMO. Some of his personnel decisions are mind boggling to me. They look like chickens with their heads cut off running around in their own zone ... they can not break out properly ... their PP is god damn awful ... de Simone, Uberti and I will add Enright and Cato have not shown very much progress at all... IMO this is a gong show of epic proportions ...

Kingston somehow beat Oshawa move into 9th which would give us the second pick next month (not sure what it does for the import draft)
