The price of beer is my only complaint. They should lower it by 1 or 2 dollars. I get why they don't make it real cheap at big events (aside from the obvious profit motive) because if its too cheap people get trashed and cause problems. I don't want Dogs games to turn into puking fist fights.

The staff is great. I never really have to wait for a beer.

The city of St. Catharines is hiring an independent third party firm to review outstanding issues between the Niagara Icedogs and the operators of the Meridian Centre.

In a release, Mayor Walter Sendzik says during a meeting with the team's owners Bill and Denise Burke, regarding their decision to cancel a $1 million donation, to the city, the Burke's expressed their concerns about the licensing agreement they have with the arena.

On Monday night council directed staff to hire a firm to investigate the complaint.

Sendizk says the IceDogs are important to the city and he is confident the outstanding issues can be resolved.

The Mayor also hopes through the review, they will ensure the operation of the Meridian Centre remains sustainable and an economic driver for the city.

Comparatively speaking – not the best, but also not that bad. About a $1.60 difference per beer.

12 fl.oz Coors Light beer @ Kully’s is $4.65 = 39 cents per fl.oz

12 fl.oz Coors Light beer @ Mansion is $4.75 = 40 cents per fl.oz

16 fl.oz Coors Light beer @ Meridian $8.50 = 53 cents per fl.oz (x 12 = $6.36 per beer)

16 fl.oz Coors Light beer @ ACC $10.50 = 66 cents per fl.oz (x 12 = $7.92 per beer)

What I don't get is the $8.50 charge for a Coors Light etc and $9.50 for other "premium" brands.

It's not like a case of premium beer costs 24 * $1 = $24 more than a case of Coors/Canadian.

Wonder if Coors/Canadian give them a break on cost so they can charge less and Sell more, than the premium (non molson) beers ?

Beer is pretty expensive in all OHL arenas in Ontario at least maybe cheaper in the US arenas . Has for letting fans in I say at least 5 : 30 in the lobby esp in bad weather maybe this review will iron things out and make the arena run more smoothly and being consisit.

I saw an ad for a theme night at a Canadian arena where they were charging $3 a beer. The mark-up is shameful. The only thing you will do is scare off business or encourage pre-drinking or contraband. A $6 pint is reasonable when you hold a monopoly. Failing that, open it up to outside vendors charge them a steep rent and let the market determine the price.

That'd be great so instead of every place selling the same thing you could have specialtys!

The mark-up in any bar, restaurant or arena is shameful, however, the truth is - beer is not nearly as marked-up as pop. A beer retails for about $1.50 so the mark up is anywhere from 300 - 400%. The stats on pop (e.g., coke, pepsi, Ice Tea) indicate that the marked-up can be upwards of 600-700%.

In comparison to other beverages, beer is a deal .

I think Coors Banquet (a fine beer according to me) is actually imported from Colorado. So there is extra transport cost.

The other premium beer (Creemore ??) is definitely more expensive than Coors Light at the Beer Store.

FYI, the Alexanders Keiths tall boy (premium beer) at the PAC is a $1 cheaper than the MC.
