Agreed ... needs to work on his skating but otherwise he has done his homework before taking on the roll

Just by way of an update I thought I would wade into the saga that is "Bones".

The Original: This person was inside the mascot costume between 2007-2016 and essentially defined the role. He ceased this duty in 2016 citing health reasons as the primary reason but hinting there were other factors.

The Back-Up: This person was a younger, smaller version who mentored under the original (2015-2017). The conjecture around the arena was that he also took on the role of Dunkin The River Lion but has since departed to further his education and may be the mascot for another OHL team while he attends school.

The Replacement: This person was larger than The Back-up and could actually skate. His signature move was a flag waving spin at center ice (2017-2018). This mascot was grittier than The Back-Up and there was conjecture around the arena that The Original had returned. Not unlike the first, this mascot pushed the limits and seemed always to be on the verge of getting in trouble. The rumour is he fell while performing the role and is recuperating.

The Substitute: When The Replacement was suddenly sidelined, The Substitute was brought in to fill the role (2018-2019). Arguable the worst skater of the bunch but seems to enjoy in-stand interactions and getting the crowd going during the quiet times.

If anyone can provide clarity to the preceding account of Bones - feel free. Most mascot performers do so from a stand-point of anonymity so if you are personally acquainted please don't refer to them by name unless you have their permission to do so.

I saw Bones the 3rd fall at a game...pretty sure that was the reason he has been out. Your right though he was pretty equal to the original Bones in hijinks and other shenanigans lol. I must say though the current Bones is very good in the stands and his skating seems to have actually improved. Is there an end of year award for most improved Bones?

The substitute Bones (#4) can't skate very well at all still. I can tell from the first stride (long push with the back leg and then glide).

One of the old-timers at the arena was guessing that the reason Bones #3 was so good was because it was actually Jordan Maletta inside the costume. Anyone know if Maletta suffered a fall recently? He was assistant hockey operations and then he wasn't and then he was again... makes you wonder.
