Default Dogs playoff scenarios...

With tonight's loss, the only team the Dogs can face in the playoffs is Peterborough.

The Dogs make the playoffs if..

1)They get one point in Mississauga tomorrow.
2) North Bay fails to win against Kingston tomorrow.

If North Bay wins tomorrow and the Dogs fail to get at least one point against Mississauga, there will be one game playoff to be held in North Bay. (likely Tuesday)

The following is the schedule vs Peterborough if the Dogs make the playoffs...

Scenario 1 Peterborough Petes (1) vs. Niagara IceDogs (8)
Game 1, Thurs, Mar 23 at Peterborough 7:05 p.m.
Game 2, Sat, Mar 25 at Peterborough 7:05 p.m.
Game 3, Tues, Mar 28 at Niagara 7:00 p.m.
Game 4, Thurs, Mar 30 at Niagara 7:00 p.m.
Game 5, Sat, Apr 1 at Peterborough 7:05 p.m.
Game 6, Mon, Apr 3 at Niagara 7:00 p.m.
Game 7, Tues, Apr 4 at Peterborough 7:05 p.m.

Mississauga has nothing to gain, Niagara has lots at stake. Will the Steelheads rest their big guns and play a friendly game with Niagara without much look at the scoreboard, or will they go all out, risk injury and suspensions from a team that is not contending this year.

Because neither game matters to Mississauga. Win or lose they have won their Division and clinched 2nd place in the Conference. They can't do better, they can't do worse. They can however get banged up or draw suspensions facing teams that are desperate.

I would rather beat Missy with all their guys in play...just the right way to do it...I understand the philosophy that Missy might have, not wanting to risk injury etc, but i will be pissed if Kingston rests their guys against North Bay...this is a rebuild year and the boys are growing and getting used to the pressure of playoff type games...thought we really missed Mantha tonight and does anyone know anything about Lochead?

You can be pissed all you want, Kingston doesn't owe a thing to Niagara. Why should they risk injury on the cusp of the playoffs to try to do a favour for Niagara?

This will be the 3rd time this weekend the Dogs have an opportunity to gain a single point and control their own destiny. Hoping another team does you favour is one thing, being pissed if they don't is another.

Take care of your own business, Go Dogs!
