I'm not sure that Machala is brought back... I'd wait to see what's available at the import draft... also don't see Sommerville or Incze as shoe ins... you could add hunter to that list as well.

I see on the draft page that Saginaw pick 4th, just ahead of us in the 5th spot.
Saginaw has more points than we have.
Can someone let me know why. I think that I might have missed something.

Last summer, the Ice Dogs picked Demin 35th overall in the 1st round and Machala 95th overall in the second round.

This year, the Ice Dogs will pick 9th or maybe 10th overall. Should be some pretty good players available if they are willing to report.

Thank you for helping me with the non-playoffs teams picking higher.

My next question in my education here is as to why Saginaw who finished the season with 63 points compared to our 56 points pick ahead of us.
Thanks in advance.

The bottom two teams in each Conference are out of the playoffs. So even though Saginaw had more points, they couldn't crack the playoffs in the mighty west this year; whereas our paltry point total was just enough to sneak in the muddy east.

They are in the Western Conference, they didn't make the playoffs. We are in the Eastern Conference, we did make the playoffs. The four non-playoff teams (2 from Western, 2 from Eastern) pick first based on points in that group. After the four non- playoff teams, THEN it is by points for the teams that did make the playoffs, making us fifth.

Draft order
#1 - Barrie - 41 points
#2 - Guelph - 49 points
#3 - North Bay - 54 points
#4 - Saginaw - 63 points
#5 - Niagara - 56 points

Am I missing something?

Yes! There are two classifications. Teams that made the playoffs and teams that didn't. Every year 16 teams make the playoffs and 4 don't. The four that don't are the lowest 2 in each conference NOT overall. Barrie was lowest in the East, North Bay was second lowest in the East, Guelph was lowest in the West, and finally Saginaw was second lowest in the West. Now stop, that is group 1.

Group 2 is all the teams that made it to the playoffs.

Group 1 is arranged by points first, 1-4 and Group 2 is arranged by points second 5-20. That is the draft order.
