I think the organization knew Dhillon wasn't comparable to the others. The faulty thinking was that their forwards could keep ahead of his goals against and outscore the other team. This is possible so long as the Niagara snipers can solve their opponent's goaltending and defense.

In fairness Dhillion only had one bad game against Oshawa who would have thought the offence would go quiet.

He had 1 entire game that was bad but he gave up bad goals in multiple games that canít happen come playoff time even if you are good the rest of the game especially when the goalie at the other end is playing so well

As a GM & Organization you go into the year with a plan, like this is a ''go for it year ''. But at some point early in the season the GM has to recognize that maybe this isn't the year and alter the plan. The Dogs failed to recognize this and sold the farm to be basically a top 8 OHL team. ... .Can't see the Dogs beating Saginaw,Guelph,Ottawa,London in a 7 game series. I look at the final 8 teams in the 2nd rd and actually not sure they even get by The Soo or Sudbury. ...IMO they are a 5-8 ranked OHL club after selling the farm. ...Good coaching would have got the Dogs to a Eastern Conference final but knocked out against a much superior Ottawa team for sure. ..I voted both GM & Coach to get canned

He also made saves in those games to give our team a chance to comeback.

The Dogs scored more goals this year than any other team in the OHL. I believe they also scored more goals this season than in any other season. They had 6 forwards with 34 goals or more. They had the team to go all the way.

Also, Stephen Dhillon ended up tied for 1st in wins with UPL (38 wins). As a team, the IceDogs gave up the 3rd fewest goals (209) Ė only Sudbury (206) Ottawa (183) gave up fewer goals.

Choose the stats you want to flaunt ...

How about these stats

Sixth best in save percentage, seventh best in goals against ... you will notice familiar faces above him in both categories ... Mikey, Keyser, UPL.

In fact Keyser and DiPietro both were half a goal better against than him ... that’s an astronomical difference

Like Nicedawg and I said ... you can outscore a goalie’s faults in the regular season, as the Dogs did. In the playoff, how did that work out ?

Goalie wins are like pitcher wins in baseball , a stat that was once thought to be important, which is now mostly ignored ...

You don’t need to convince me that wins are not really a great stat. I don’t care much for it. Save percentage for a goalie - like WHIP for a pitcher is a better stat.
More importantly, I was only trying to point out that as team the IceDogs gave up the 3rd fewest goals in the OHL - to go along with the highest scoring offence in the OHL. A reason to be optimistic heading into the playoffs.

You do realize that Dhillion has the best GAA in the OHL for the playoffs right? If a goalie needs to up his game for the playoffs, then going by the stats it appears Dhillion did just that. Check out the stats below. Again Dhillion was not the reason the IceDogs loss.
