Heading into this season, Barrie’s rebuild aligned with Ice Dogs. Landing Svechnikov and Lipinov (swapped over for D.Sokolov), who will both be gone next year, I can understand why they went all in. Barrie used their limited assets to transform themselves into a good team. Last year, Barrie was in last place – and essentially added only 4quality OHL players (Svechnikov, Sokolov, Luchuk, Fergus) to transform themselves.

And with Ice Dogs waiting the extra year for their young players to mature, grow and develop their game before adding those 3 or 4 key pieces, really bodes well for the 2019 Ice Dogs. Especially when you consider that the 2018 Ice Dogs are currently sitting amoung the top 5 teams in the OHL after 40 games. No real reason to believe they will stay there for the remainder of the season, but it is a glimpse into what is possible for the Ice Dogs next season!

With Miletic and Corneil not returning next year the Dogs will be in need of two left hand shots in their top 6 forward units to replace them. ......If Brandon Saigeon returns to Hamilton next season as an OA he could be a good fit for the Dogs. Leads league in PP goals, over a point a game, on pace for over 30 goals, left hand shot, 6'2 200 pds, and from Grimsby
