Every player in the OHL that is still in high school has a no trade clause. Every one.

Which translates into them having to sign off on any proposed trade. There is a big difference between a trade ban and having to waive your clause. For example if I went to little Mikey who was in high school and up for a trade and told him, Team X doesn't love you anymore and you are going to spend most games as a scratch but Team Y wants you on their team if you waive your no trade clause...

Except, he never said the word ban.
He said no trade clause.
You said he was wrong.
He isn't.

I learned (and retained) that valuable information from one of your post last year fishfan51. Thank you for being a value added member of the forum.

He implied no one was nervous at the trade deadline because mostly everyone has a NTC. He was wrong, it isn't the security blanket he believed it to be and many players sweat this time of year.

I know from players over the years that having a no trade clause doesn't make you sleep nights around the deadline. First of all you can still get cut and then your hoping someone will take you. Not everyone is untouchable.

If a team is willing to cut a player and get nothing for them, how much trade value to you think they hold to begin with?

It's a threat but players take it serious. High school or not if your not playing every night and the team says there is a trade or you might get cut or sent down, guess what, you take the trade.

Not always players could still have places they don’t want to play so maybe they’d rather get released than go play on whatever team it is
