He is the best player on paper - for <6 months. Seems a very odd trade to me. My guess is that they will put him on Thomas' line to help his #s, as they really want him to remain a 1st round pick. Honestly, I don't get it. By all means get a winger for the top 2 lines - but not at this price. They are never going to get past Hamilton or Kingston in the 2nd round. So now they lose 4-2 rather than 4-0? Seems a lot of currency to give up for next year when they need every pick possible.

Top 2 lines:

Corneil - Jones - Maksimov
Militec - Thomas - Singer

would be my bet.

PP: Jones; Thomas; Maksimov; Militec - which one drops to 2nd pp line? Unless they play 4 Fs and a single D.

Interesting....

I agree with those lines and Id go 4 forwards on the PP or drop Militec to the second unit and spread everyone out

Yeah? What if the team we are trading with wants an extra second for a player that would really help us and we gave it away already, do you think they will take an IOU, or be dazzled by how well we did this year? Joey Burke overpaid for this player. If he was available cheaper it might have made more sense, but at that price he should have passed in favour of next year.

Milectic will play 1st line power play, no doubt in my mind.

That's what this is all about, finding someone to keep Thomas looking good. You can't score an assist unless someone puts it in the net and Thomas hasn't exactly dented the twine much this year.

You only need to look at the players leaving and returning to the Eastern Conference - to conclude that this was a poorly thought out trade! And next year, when the Ice Dogs are amoung the league leaders, but unable to make any significant trades to give themselves a chance to win it all - you might see this differently!

This is an incredibly short-sighted trade - with little return know (maybe win a playoff round - big deal) and nothing for next year (when we had a legitimate shot at winning the East).

I don't care how many goals he scores or how many games we win as a result of this trade - it was the WRONG thing to do this year!!!

No that's not true, they used to have enough picks to make some significant trades next year. Not anymore! To quote Chipperdog, "They're screwed!"
