Game Thread Niagara IceDogs @ Erie Otters - Saturday, 2018.01.13 - 7pm

Oh come on, who didn't see that one coming...?

Niagara IceDogs:
2nd in the East and 1st in the Central Division after 40 games with 51 points, 23-12-3-2 or 0.638%
Scoring: Miletic 19G 41A, Thomas 11G 36A, Jones 15G 31A
Ghoalie: Dhillon 34GP, 3.08GAA (9th), 0.905% (8th)

Erie Otters:
9th in the West after 41 games with 33 points, 12-20-6-3 or 0.402%
Scoring: Maksimovich 24G 27A, Lodnia 19G 30A, Headrick 8G 19A
Goalie: Oberoi 18GP, 3.86GAA (20th), 0.876% (19th)

Of the four games played in this series, Niagara has picked up a W in all but one game and never left without at least a point. Erie has lost their last four games but had a night off while the IceDogs battled hard. The Otters will take on their closest rivals rested and on home ice, but Niagara has the momentum of a huge win and the confidence to pull off another one.

I am surprised the IceDogs haven't hired him yet. Love them, it's a highlight of this site!

You would hope. However the coaching staff has not always made the 'smart' call. A couple of things that tell me we might see Dhillon come back tonight.

1. He's gotten progressively stronger since getting chased from the Kingston game. He hasn't looked great, but he's looking better in every start.
2. He's strung together 2 wins in a row. They might not feel it's best to sit him while he's heating up.
3. They're in 1st in the Central, playing a weak (supposedly) Erie squad. While Barrie is playing North Bay (also weak), and I doubt they will give up a chance at sole possession of 1st in the Central.

my opinion they still start Incze... i think billy knows that Dhillon needs days off if ws are gonna do anything in the playoffs and he has stated that Incze is playing like a starter.... he is also playing very well of late... give hom the start this way come playoffs we have 2 goalies that are solid and ready to go any given night

Although you make some great points Id start Incze since he probably wont see the net at all next week and whos what happens after that

I disagree with neither of you about this. I also would come back with Incze.

However, coaching staff doesn't always do the logical thing. They seem to let Dhillon talk them into leaving him in for starts where he should be sitting.

I think any week where we have 3 games, Dhillon should sit one of them.

The team needs to get the message that allowing 49 shots and playing the way they did in the 1st isn't going to fly. I'd play Incze for that reason, especially with his recent progress. Even if Incze was struggling, they still deserve to have that message and if a blow out is in order to deliver it, so be it.

It's in everyone's best interests to roll with Colton and he is certainly ready.

Mind you quite a few shots for Barrie was from the outside.
