I hereby request that a moderator take this post, make a separate thread, and put a sticky on it, so that Blacksox can continually update it on an as needed basis. This is simply too good information to be lost in a random thread.

May I suggest some improvements though.

(1) include the year they first played in the OHL, just kinda nice to see the trend of it, and,
(2)add the year and round they were drafted in in the OHL, oh heck, let’s add one more,
(3) the year, round and team where they were selected in the NHL draft.

Great work Blacksox, let’s see this in its own sticky thread !!!!!

Thread created and located to the appropriate area. It doesn't warrant a sticky designation but Blacksox knows how to find things and update them (which will bring it to the top again).

You took out Sam Gagner.

Was supposed to go to Wisconsin on full-ride scholarship.

Thanks 123 G!!! Sam Gagner added and the "Hunter List" gets (disgustingly) longer!

University of Wisconsin were out-bid by the London Knights for both Sam Gagner and Patrick Kane for the 2006-2007 season. In that previous year (2006), Wisconsin had won their 6th NCAA Hockey Championship!

Default The ‘Hunter Clause’?

Just an idea I had, it may be complete
In light of London’s magical ability to create NCAA de-commits:
Is there a way to make an NCAA commit permanent(as in, OHL-ineligible) or have the signing of an NCAA de-commit cost a first-round pick?
ie. 1. Saginaw drafts player
2. Player tells SAG ‘thanks very much, but I have committed to Michigan University’
3. LDN swoops in(with dump truck full of money)
4.Player turns up in Knights sweater
5. LDN surrenders 1st-round pick as compensation to SAG in next year’s Priority Selection.
So LDN gets what they wanted, in poaching SAG’s drafted player, and SAG isn’t left with nothing. Ultimately, hopefully, this compensatory system would discourage OHL teams(London)from poaching each other’s draft picks.

There is always a way, getting the OHL to do something about it is a different story though. The problem is.... the OHL wants these top tier players in the league. They don’t care how they get here as long as they do. The kids have options. If they don’t get to play where they want in the OHL, they’ll just go to an NCAA school of their choice. It’s easy to say “then we don’t want/need them in the OHL then”. However, from a league standpoint, they get oodles of money from the NHL for player development. If the top players don’t play in the CHL, the oodles of money doesn’t come either.

It’s lot easier for the league to claim they are the best development league in the world if the best players are coming.
