Have to say, I am generally disappointed with the number and type of concerts. I expected more of them. A lot more and more variety. I was expecting promoters to target the local University/College crowd with modern pop music.

Has there been any EDM? Not that I care but that stuff draws big crowds right now.

The Mellencamp show is more than half sold out. All the cheapest seats are gone.

Generally disappointed is a massive understatement ...

I Hate to be negative but I figured this venue wouldn’t see a lot of events outside of OHL hockey. I don’t even consider the basketball tram a worthy tenant as I can’t imagine they are paying the same amount for facility rental that the dogs are paying .

So I can’t say that I’m not surprised by the lack of frequent touring acts appearing regularly here .. which is a disappointment for me ...

I'm neither surprised or disappointed in the acts or the amount that have come to town. A quick look at other buildings around Ontario with approx the same capacity and their schedule wouldn't have nearly the same quality come to town. Who would have though the Meridian Centre would get Elton John, Seinfeld, Mellencamp, the Hip, etc? There have been lots of events that I don't have interest in, ie the Scotties, FIBA u18's, country concerts, etc. Also, the Meridian Centre deals with competition from Buffalo, Artpark, casinos on both sides of the border, Hamilton, Toronto, etc. Fallsview is in the process of building a 7000 seat ampitheatre that will be in direct competition 15 minutes down the road and has much deeper pockets to attract the big names.

If they just learned how to shovel their bridges in the winter they'd be all good.

This is a serious problem for the MC.

Although, any kind of casino show sucks on a certain level. Short, no booze and sterile environment. So we may still get big shows at the MC.
