The Icedogs 4th round pick Andrew Vermeulen is now playing for the Brantford 99ers. I actual thought he would stick with the Icedogs. I guess the Brantford 99ers need him more.

Of the three, only Kingston is competitive this year.

So the cat is out of the bag now with the news announced.

I simply cannot believe how he has gone about building a 2024 MemCup hopeful roster.

Does he realize that the roster he built this year in terms of age, many will age out for the MemCup year?

This team will have I believe 7 OA next year so four players are gone for less than probably what he paid for many of them this year

His strategy is utterly mind boggling to say the least .

I do wonder if the league throws him a bone (and grants him the MemCup) as a new owner who has (no doubt) helped boost franchise values around the league for the purported price he paid. He also boosted draft pick inventory of many teams in the league as well.

Lol

I much prefer a team who gets to the MemCup via the front door as a champion as opposed to the back door as host. I have long thought that the tournament format is silly.

I doubt I will buy tickets as they will probably force you to buy the entire package of games at a significant cost not worthy of watching junior hockey IMO.

I saw somebody on Twitter say that Niagara has the best chance. Because of hotel rooms and other factors.

Interesting.

Usually the whole package for the memorial cup is about the same price as season tickets for the regular season, which is crazy as the memorial cup is usually only 8 games. Single tickets are in the $70 - $100 range. I would probably go to one game at most.

I really can’t see the memorial cup being successful here. It’s just too expensive.
