Maybe they'll close the downtown library to the public next. Safety reasons. Someone could easily trip down the staircase.

I don't know what's worse- that SMG stated "safety and theft" as the reasons, or the fact they actually think the people they say that to are SO STUPID that it will be believed. They must be thinking "they're all idiots - tell them safety: they'll believe it."

Yah.. like someone wants to rip out a seat and walk out with it. Maybe take the door along with you on the way out.

I won't be buying season tickets again until SMG is gone.
It's such a shame that such a great team/organization has to live under the rules of a company like this.

I was in Kelowna in 2011 and visited the arena there . I was not allowed to walk right in and look around but once I mentioned I was visiting from Niagara and wanted to see what a real CHL facility looked like , the fellow did escort my wife and me to rinkside and we had our 5 minutes to observe and then were told OK time to go . Sounds like a similar situation that we are having at the Meridian .

The debate comes up from time to time over "private public spaces". For instance, Parliament is a public place - right? What do you think your odds are of attending the PM's office? It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn the team could provide access to select individuals if they chose to... I'd ask there first.

Why? The only things I noticed from the previous seasons at the Jack was that they didn't know what they were doing. You just have to hire someone that knows how to drive a Zamboni and someone else that can operate a screwdriver every now and then. It was nice being able to come and go as you please.

The only reason they are getting away with all the rules is because the facility is so nice. If it wasn't as nice as it was people wouldn't go to the games.

A city run facility will not get the acts coming to the Meridian Centre. And I am sure there are rules at the Jack about letting in people all the time. The Meridan Cente is regarged has a major facility so there are new rules in place just like any other arena in the OHL.

As, I believe, you have said in the past Alpha Dog its becoming more and more apparent that we don't truly live in a democratic society. Very sad.

The Jack was always open for practices.

I don't think you can compare the parliament buildings to the Meridian centre.

All I know is that the guys they have cleaning the ice now are no better then the city workers. Every game they leave lines that are not cleaned and way to much water on the ice. There are two of them and the kids moving the nets and not one of them can spot this. Now I am no Zamboni driver but when all it takes is to go round in a circle and clean the ice I think anyone can do it.

The water problem has an easy fix. While in Kitchener watching the Dogs/Rangers game this year, I noticed that they flood the ice before the mini game takes place. The kids are so small that they aren't going to mess up the ice one bit. By the time the real game is ready to go, the ice is perfectly dry.
