Game Thread Niagara IceDogs @ Kingston Frontenacs - Saturday, 2018.12.29 - 7pm

Niagara IceDogs:
2nd in the East after 33 games with 45 points, 20-8-5-0 or 0.682%
Scoring: Robertson 31-29, Thomas 11-31, Jones 16-25
Goaltending: Dhillon 27GP 2.82GAA(7th) 0.913%(6th)

Kingston Frontenacs:
10th in the East after 34 games with 21 points, 10-23-1-0 or 0.309%
Scoring: Neumann 24-20, Cranford 9-12, Constantinou 5-14
Goaltending: Bonello 26GP 3.83GAA(16th) 0.888%(14th)

The IceDogs leave behind a game they could have won to play one in Kingston they should have no trouble with. Time for Niagara to shake off the stink of the 67s romp and get back to playing hockey. Over-confidence kills, so hopefully our team remembers to play all sixty minutes or it could be an embarrassing ride home.

We should win this game even though we are short players. Id start sbaraglia but given the time off and the way the last 20 went in Ottawa billy might go back with Dhillon

Predicting a 3-1 win, but still anticipating a sloppy affair.

I like your prediction and believe our back up will start. If this game is a sloppy affair, it's all on the coaching staff.

Mostly it isn't. Every Christmas break players go home and are reminded to keep up their conditioning and eat properly and sleep right - because they are athletes. Every Christmas, most leave promising to do just that, but invariably don't exercise, they overeat/drink and stay out late - because they are teens. Some are able to shake off the cobwebs sooner but others can't and you see butt marks all over the ice from them dragging their arse from one end of the rink to the other.

Not much a coach can do about that. If you bring them back early to have a hard practice or two then you are cutting into their vacation. If you cross your fingers and hope for the best, you might get a period or two out of your team. If you establish that "team first" regime with the players and families you "might" have a chance.

Myself personally i think it was a matter young kids getting way more icetime than they are used to with a depleted lineup and they just gassed... 10 forwards, 5 of which are bottom 6 with 2 16 year olds and than add the 3 rookie dmen... what did everyone here expect.. they held their own for the first half but ran out of gas agaonst the best team in the league who was really only missing one player at the world jr's... i didnt count Mickey D in that because really Andree is the one who has gotten them where they are and he came in and stood tall again yesterday afternoon
