Sorry ... but IMHO Demin was a waste of a pick ... and Kopta ... and Sysla ... and so on and so on ... (Machala probably a waste too).

Plus this will allow them to use one less import this year ... giving their own players even more ice time to develop...

There may be a 1% chance he plays here ... but there's a 99% chance he won't play anywhere else. I'm good with that ...

I'd rather they totally get rid of imports entirely in the CHL.

IMHO the whole import draft / import system is ludicrous ...

He did mention just after he got drafted by the Leafs that he was heading back to the Three Crowns to play.
That being said, we all know how Sweden keeps their young players and rewards them for staying in Sweden which permits them to play at the WJ's.
He had a disastrous year last year and prolly is keen to prove to his countrymen he is worthy of his original scouted top 5 status.

Would he get better coaching if he reported to Niagara than a selected National team track coach back home. I'll let you guys decide that.

He got F'ed around last year in Sweden, Wouldn't surprise me if the Leafs invite him to camp and then decide AHL or OHL.

He can't be traded to another OHL team.

Let's not forget he was also sick for about 3 months with mono I doubt he's in the NHL next year so realistically it's AHL or Sweden

Or the long shot,,, Niagara if Shanny can persuade the lad and take Mark Hunter out of the equation temporarily on this player.

If they punted a 12th overall import pick it's a complete embarrassment for the organization. They've got a good young hockey team and a new building and they can't land a decent import after 10 years in the league? Hopefully they've at least been assured that playing in the league is a real possibility and he would have no problem playing in Niagara if that's the route the Leafs choose. He would obviously be a big time add if he shows but if it's a remote chance at best a decent draft eligible prospect that was willing to report would have made much more sense.

excellent pick; if he doesn't play in Niagara, Hunter will eventually want him in London. he could be traded after a year, and for a big return

He can go to the AHL next year. It's very doubtful he'd play more than 1 year in the O.
