I look at it the same way. Every player, coach, assistant coach, therapist, trainer and front office staff is potentially on someone else's radar. The only surprising part is if there was no contingency plan.

Former London Knight player and coach, and also was an assistant with the Canadian National Team. He's got the resume. Would be interesting to see if Nystrom is at least considered, and should be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Hard to fault Joey Burke considering...

Bell was offered the job after Chris Hajt, a Reign assistant for the past two seasons, joined the Buffalo Sabres last week as assistant coach.

“They just called and we kind of had a conversation, and it just snowballed from there to a job offer,” Bell said Wednesday. “I had a long discussion with my wife (Brooke) and we took the job.”

This sounds and looks more like a betrayal of the trust and faith the Niagara Ice Dogs put in David Bell.

This is not good - it's terrible!
Hey come on , lets not forget the blindsided way that the Burkes handled Williamson. Maybe its just plain karma. Its a business through and through, I don't blame Bell at all for grabbing this opportunity. Bell is a young guy and on the move. I wish him nothing but the best.

Nah just business... Williamson had a target to reach, he had free reign as head coach and GM and he fell short. He got continuance to the end of his contract, so no net loss. As for Bell, he did well with a team that no one expected to, and he got noticed. Speaks well both of Bell and the IceDogs for setting the stage. As far as business goes, I'd be curious about the release clause for Bell not holding up his end of the contract.

Bell said contract extensions in sports are for a particular level, but they are not roadblocks to moving upwards in the ranks. It’s not like a three-year contract to be an accountant at a business firm, it’s a sport where people get promoted and move up the ranks.”

So the employee is free to break the contract, but if the employer decides to then he still collects a paycheque? Interesting...
