But, if I may, having two shutdown type d-men would help the team in the standings and might help Jr's first year on this site anyway
Vince Dunn played in Thorold his first year and got a lot, lot of ice time and that did not hurt him.
I would rather see a talented young defense man log a ton of ice in Junior B instead of being the 6th d-man or even worst spend most of the season in the press box.
Either way, it's all good at the end of the day as long as they bring in two players, (as long as the cost is not overwhelming.
I would rather see 2 OA defensemen, 1 each on the top lines. It would give our speedy forwards the ability to do their stuff and give another year for our D to mature.

Me too. There will be injuries etc. The young D Men will get plenty of ice time.

Ok but our d were young last year, I mean when are you going to take the training wheels off ?

I think having two D OA would be detrimental to the development of our d

Nah size still matters and every year they get a bit bigger and meaner. Not sure how being backed up on the same line by someone good can hurt your development. Who are the top 4 guys you think can carry the load this year?? And if they are that good, maybe we can roll three shut down lines and stop every team cold at the blue line. I personally don't see that.

No kidding, not to bash these players but we need some older guys with this potential group.

If next year is the go for it year the kids need to play. Overagers should be character guys IMO. I'd like to see them add to their draft pick pool this year not subtract.

I don't think you can add much draft pick wise this year IMO cause the only tradeable guys will be here next year and would be big parts of this team. As for adding an OA or two this season they can probably pick one or both up from waivers

Waivers or with a late round pick or two to solidify things before a release.

I don't disagree, 123, the kids do need to play. But I think it would do the Dogs' D a world of good to have a stabilizing, veteran presence back there. Mostly as a puck-mover, but also a veteran D that could help keep the puck in on power plays. A PK unit gets tired real quick when they can't get the puck out. And that leads to wonderful things like 2-man advantages, when the tired PKers fire the puck out of the rink.
