It would not surprise me to see him relinquish his GM role afterward and let someone else clean up the mess. I mean if this was a solid strategy then all the other teams would be doing it as well.

If you had a choice, how many on here would choose Joey Burke rather than DD?
I would choose Joey. He made a ton of mistakes, overpaid on some trades and had questionable draft picks. But he was improving and more importantly, he wanted to win a championship. Even if I disagreed with a trade Joey made, I at least understood Joey’s logic. With DD, I can’t figure out what he is doing with some of the trades he has made. I really question whether he has a plan for this team or just makes decisions based on how he feels that day.

The fact is that draft picks are traded like hockey cards in this league.
Look at the most recent OHL draft,18 of the 20 second round picks were acquired via trade. the year before it was 16 of 20 second round picks had been traded.
I look at the Icedog roster today and I see 5 left wingers on the roster. Another left winger (former #9) was traded for a nice return.
i also liked him last year, but his foot speed, or lack of, hurt him IMO.
Same with the former #20. Not sure where he would fit in this line-up. Could very well flourish in Oshawa with the ice time he wouldn't get here.
The team the last couple years was not good, to be kind. I think that most of these trades make the team better and thats what I like to watch.
Maybe the last management team had worn out their welcome around the league and other GM's wouldn't deal with them.
I agree that the number of trades since the end of last season is alot, but i think the team is better on paper than if the trades had not been made.
Time will tell.

I am not sure what the point is but, in 2020 London had 7 draft picks acquired via trade, in 2021 7 more and in 2022 4 picks were acquired via trade....and they seem to be the Gold Standard in the league.
They have made lots of picks and then realized that the player doesn't fit their plans for whatever reason and then they move the player.
Seems to be working
i don't believe standing still would have been the best choice.
