Game Thread Saginaw Spirit @ Niagara IceDogs - Thursday, 2018.12.06 - 7pm

Niagara IceDogs:
3rd in the East after 27 games with 36 points, 16-7-4-0 or 0.667%
Scoring: Robertson 27-25, Thomas 11-23, Maksimov 18-14
Goaltending: Dhillon 21GP 2.73GAA(7th) 0.916%(6th)

Saginaw Spirit:
5th in the West after 27 games with 31 points, 13-10-1-2 or 0.574%
Scoring: Coskey 11-16, Michnac 8-15, Jenkins 8-14
Goaltending: Prosvetov 21GP 3.31GAA(13th) 0.892%(13th)

When Niagara visited Michigan back at the end of October, it was a rare 3-2 shootout win for the IceDogs. With the upgrades in place and the full team playing, this is a must-win on home ice. Niagara needs to get off to an early lead and keep the pace up all game long. The Spirit are no strangers to the penalty box and will hope to capitalize on the IceDogís Achilles-heal by dragging a few players down with them. Should be a great game!

I have to disagree with you in terms of “must win” I think we win this but it will be a tough game I’m saying 4-3 Niagara

GAME 28 / 68 vs SAGINAW

Expectations were high at the start of the season in Saginaw Ė so when things went sideways, coach Troy Smith was fired (Nov.18th) and assistant coach Chris Lazary was hired. Since taking over as HC, Lazary has won 4 of his first 5 games.

Tomasino Leads the Attack

Phil Tomasinoís exceptional play has not gone unnoticed. Projected to be a 2nd or 3rd pick before the season started Ė Tomasinoís name has begun to surface as a possible 1st round pick in some circles.

All eyes have been on J-Rob, but have you noticed how well Jacob Paquette has played?

Since the arrival of Robertson and Paquette, the IceDogs are playing .800 hockey - winning 4 of the 5 games. This edition of the IceDogs, continues to rack up points at better pace than Niagaraís two previous OHL finalist.

Once again, we will agree to disagree as all the remaining games are "must win".

I want our team to finish 1st overall in he East which would give us home ice until the OHL final. Home ice advantage means a lot in the playoffs.

I do not believe that the gap too big. We have games in hand on them and we still play them 3 more times.

I am not so sure that Ottawa can maintain this pace they are on.

But, if our players play games in their nonchalant way like they have at times, then, you win this discussion.

However, if they play the way they are supposed to play (full tilit boogie) with every game being important in the win column, I think we can catch them.

Go Dogs Go!!

We do have games in hand (2) and we do play them 3 times but 2 of 3 will be without Roberson which will hurt us while they still have their top players. I agree they canít keep the same pace but I donít know if weíll be able to either when we lose Roberson and Sopa for the WJC camps and tournaments (Iíd be surprised if both donít make it) every team tryís to play full tilt with every game being important to the win column (unless you want first pick) doesnít mean theyíll win. Like I said I hope you are right in this case I just donít see it

I am going to stay on the positive side of things as Ottawa will be missing players as well.

We shall see what we shall see.
